+1 -- I am really confused! It doesn't seem exactly like waitlisting, here is the quote:

Each year, a large number of candidates submit applications to Georgetown Law early in the process. The high quality of this group makes the Committee's decisions extremely difficult. Please be aware that only a small number of early applicants have had their applications held, and a number of those applicants in past years have subsequently been admitted.

Once we have a better sense of the entire applicant pool, the Committee on Admissions will review your application again in January. No additional information is necessary, and the Law School Data Assembly Service (LSDAS) will continue to send us updates, which we will add to your file. A final decision will be mailed no later than Friday, February 26, 2010.

The second half is hopeful. The first half makes me feel abnormal.

Reminds me of applying for undergrad again. Did a load of begging and bothering and gimmicks to get off my waitlist to where I am currently. Things don't change do they.

Why would they send the deferred e-mail to people who didn't have date changes before sending our reject/wl e-mails - I think rejects will be by mail like last year.

I guess I should have included it, since I just interviewed Monday.

Probably a good placement. Since a large chunk of interviewees are accepted and the majority are waitlisted, it makes sense that it be between IN and WL. And it's probably emotionally better than being deferred, because no decision means there's still (false?) hope of admission.

Not sure why I would be offended. I have been pretty sure I was going to get waitlisted since the beginning. I think the deferral just proves we are borderline. I am going to continue to treat it as a WL also, but a WL were we will hear back in February where we are.
