I think this means that the 12/1 DR batch is filled with rejections.LaurenGayle wrote: +1 -- I am really confused! It doesn't seem exactly like waitlisting, here is the quote:
Thank you for applying to the Juris Doctor program at Georgetown University Law Center. The record you present is a strong one, and the Committee on Admissions has chosen to postpone your final decision.
Each year, a large number of candidates submit applications to Georgetown Law early in the process. The high quality of this group makes the Committee's decisions extremely difficult. Please be aware that only a small number of early applicants have had their applications held, and a number of those applicants in past years have subsequently been admitted.
Once we have a better sense of the entire applicant pool, the Committee on Admissions will review your application again in January. No additional information is necessary, and the Law School Data Assembly Service (LSDAS) will continue to send us updates, which we will add to your file. A final decision will be mailed no later than Friday, February 26, 2010.
Thoughts??
Also, FT, RD.

I think it means 11/30 were the accepts, 12/1 the rejects/wl's, and the others are deferred (other early aps/ed)

Postponed as well, RD/FT. Same day as Cornell's deferral came in the mail.

Yeah, while it might "be better than straight-waitlisting," i'm gonna consider it a rejection until proven otherwise. Besides, who is gonna say they even look at us again?philosoraptor wrote:Postponed as well, RD/FT. Same day as Cornell's deferral came in the mail.

It's like the second-string waitlist, or the first, who knows.

Ha ha ha. I'm right there with you, dude. Although that doesn't really say anything for you being normal being in a group with me . . .CyLaw wrote:The second half is hopeful. The first half makes me feel abnormal.

It's a good thing. It's like getting to apply again. Or like having an extra life in Super Mario.

Reminds me of applying for undergrad again. Did a load of begging and bothering and gimmicks to get off my waitlist to where I am currently. Things don't change do they.NayBoer wrote:IN > held/deferred > preferred WL > regular WL > OUTsouthxii wrote:It's like the second-string waitlist, or the first, who knows.

Why would they send the deferred e-mail to people who didn't have date changes before sending our reject/wl e-mails - I think rejects will be by mail like last year.

Yeah, interview, i did not get. Although i guess it would be hard to do an interview from Iraq.
CyLaw, no offense, but for my own sanity I'm going to assume i'm not going to be attending law school in DC next year. Sucks.

what's with the pessimism ruleser? you have yet to post one positive message since yesterday. You need to chill out and please keep your miserable outlook to yourself.
sorry for those people who have gotten deferrals. congrats to those that have gotten in. and congrats to those on 12/1 who WILL be receiving small envelopes in the mail soon.
peace and love.

I guess I should have included it, since I just interviewed Monday.CyLaw wrote:Added in one more state that we forgot about.NayBoer wrote: IN > Interview Requested > held/deferred > preferred WL > regular WL > OUT
Probably a good placement. Since a large chunk of interviewees are accepted and the majority are waitlisted, it makes sense that it be between IN and WL. And it's probably emotionally better than being deferred, because no decision means there's still (false?) hope of admission.

Not sure why I would be offended. I have been pretty sure I was going to get waitlisted since the beginning. I think the deferral just proves we are borderline. I am going to continue to treat it as a WL also, but a WL were we will hear back in February where we are.southxii wrote:CyLaw, no offense, but for my own sanity I'm going to assume i'm not going to be attending law school in DC next year.
