No general consensus. If you're an auto-admit, you should hear soon. If you're not, be prepared for a long haul.knola002 wrote:My app just went complete. Is there a consensus on how long it takes them to render a decision?

Morning Dean Tom,
It would be lovely to hear from you today. I'll keep my window open in case that carrier pigeon is on its way.

So the countdown to 9am PST was useless. Thus begins the countdown to 11:42am PST.
41 minutes.

So I'm pretty much a Berkeley newbie...so please help me out! I'm reading about faculty review referrals on this thread and while applying, I also saw an option allowing a student admissions committee to review your application. What do these options mean?

I wonder about this, too. I went back and forth, trying to decide which box to check on the question about having students look at my app. Anyone know what (if any) impact this might have on turn-around time?

Re: Berkeley 2010
That's what I couldn't decide. I've taken a rather unusual path to applying to law schools (as, I'm coming to realize, is the case for many people here). I wondered whether it would be better to have staff/faculty review my file than to have students read it, given the different perspectives and experiences the two groups might have.kittenmittons wrote:Whats the downside of students reviewing?eas331 wrote:msch0i wrote:So I'm pretty much a Berkeley newbie...so please help me out! I actually don't remember which way I decided to go -- just remembered that I got hung up on that question, and now I'm trying to think of reasons why I haven't heard from Berkeley yet.

faculty and student review are mutually exclusive options? or am i misinterpreting the above discussion?eas331 wrote:That's what I couldn't decide. Sorry -- didn't mean to make things complicated. There was just one question on Berkeley's application asking whether it was OK to have students review the file. It stated that the applicant's answer to this question would not impact the application. It's probably no big deal either way.
I am still curious when the student reviewers come into play, though. Anyone know if they're looking at applications now, helping to move things along in the early stages, or if they're part of a later review process?

How is this possible?! They've accepted like 50 people all week... At this rate, it will take awhile to get to 800.
