Yeah, I've gotten it. I used it to really emphasize how much I want to do PI work and why. I think it's pretty apparent from my resume/coursework/personal statement, but I always like the opportunity to actually speak to it. I agree with Kopetz--talk about something you find to be unique and/or that you're proud of and like to talk about. Especially if it's something that doesn't across as a "wow" factor in your app but you think it should!

I am guessing that it is worthless to hope for any updates this week but for some reason I keep coming back to TLS

are you in the interview rn or

I was asked something similar in an alumnus interview: "Is there anything you'd like to highlight on your resume?" I think the best thing to do is to choose something unique that you're proud of or that you can get excited talking about. Probably not the time for (e.g.) "I worked as a paralegal for 8 months" unless it involves a specific project you really liked.
Lol, I was preparing for my UChicago interview, and had been asked that question before and totally bungled it. Posting on TLS during an interview would be next level neurotic.

"What an interesting question, ma'am. I look forward to answering it! First, please allow me to blow my nose"
"Of course! Take your time...
...Are you on your phone?"
"What? I'm just blowing my nose"
"...Sir, you've clearly just wrapped a tissue around your phone and are holding it very close to your face"

Probably not, likely depends on the school, and better late than never because your worst case either way is waiting a year

I've heard being early is somewhat less essential for T3 schools. Unsure about CCN, sorry.

Hey, question about visiting schools you've been admitted to. Will they pay for me to fly/train out to the city? What about my girlfriend and/or parent? Can I just email and ask them if they'll buy me a ticket/tickets, or is that in bad taste? Currently in at and wanting to visit NYU, Berkeley, Duke, UVA, UCLA, and hopefully Columbia soon. Feel free to PM me

Thanks!!

Travel stipends are definitely a thing, but they're school dependent. I have no clue whether +1 will get a stipend.

Of all the schools for which I've read about travel stipends, NONE of them give stipends for anyone other than the applicant to visit. It makes no sense for them to.

Also, most of them only offer a set amt of money and some of them only offer the stipend for people X amt of miles away or more. Seems like $200 has been the common amt.

Do you guys think any T14s will have waves this week or do you think it'll be more of a week of UR date changes than anything else since they're getting back into the groove of things?

earliest new year acceptances on lsn last year:
NYU: 1/6. no "wave" until 1/12.
Mich: 1/5

I don't expect to hear back from anywhere else for a while, so not looking them up! lol

Anyone have any opinions on when it's a good idea to withdraw an app or not? Lol

As someone who usually checks lsn, idk why I didn't think to look there! Lol. I'll just work under the assumption that next week is more likely.
