You received a decision on a Sunday as a RD applicant? Do you mind sharing when you submitted?
Yes, I received my decision on a Sunday as an RD applicant. I was pretty surprised. I submitted early November and went UR2 just a couple days ago. At first I was a little disappointed, but after reading the email and searching the forum here PR doesn't seem so bad. Time to write my "why Duke?" :)

That is so strange (it not being a workday)! Also I wish you the best of luck with your Why Duke and hopefully you will be admitted from PR soon!

Not necessarily. See re: interview discussion (I think it was mentioned). But they are waiting for the money to come in from the endowment before the committee meets. They meet on Fridays and were expecting to me either last Friday or this Friday (depending upon when they received the figures). So it could be earlier; however, since the deadline is also within the next two weeks, it's possible they will hold out on decisions. But fwiw, myself and a few others were told basically early February.

Also to add: Offers are released based on when you interviewed. So the earlier, the sooner. I'm assuming we will find out when they start (since we have the first interviewee in our midst).

Thanks. Anyone with insight into how important the interview is? I didn't feel that it went as strongly as my actual admission interviews for other schools but my numbers should get at least some money I'd think.

Do you think there's a point that's too late to get a decent scholarship? I'm afraid I applied way too late this cycle.

the order of offer is based on interview order. And idk their methods for insuring that they have remaining money for later admits. Youre probably okay. Just wait and see what they do.

And I guess if order is important, I can reapply and take advantage of that fact next fall.

Yeah but interview order isn't really associated with acceptance order. Interviews were first come, first served for all applicants who had been admitted before the interview information was sent out. This whole process leaves a lot to be desired, IMO.

But at any other school, you're not going to be getting scholarship information before your acceptance. While I see your point, it's not too far-fetched of a system.

eta: They aren't going to run out of money. It's not like they over-offer the first interviewees and then end up with a low pool for the last ones. And even then, they seem to be decent as far as negotiations go, which means keeping some in reserve. Let's just see how it plays out, and then we can make assumptions.

During the scholarship interview, is it okay to bring up a substantial scholarship offer from another (equally ranked) school? Just not sure what the scholarship interview is supposed to entail on my part and what I'm supposed to say. Thanks!

I would save that for negotiation. There are multiple comments already regarding the interview. Just use the search function and you should find them.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
