UMN is more regional than WUSTL, so I think a match would be smidge optimistic, but you can definitely negotiate. I feel confident you will get more out of WUSTL. General consensus here is that WUSTL won't be making "final" offers until close to/after the deposit deadline (with more money maybe to come in the summer). So, by all means negotiate, but the wisdom is to wait until 4-6 weeks from the deadline (so beginning of March).whjohnso444 wrote:Is it too early to negotiate? I was offered 45k and umn offered 90k so I figured I could use them to get it matched. Any insight on this?

It's definitely more of a conversation than a formal interview. The only question they asked me was what my career goals are after law school. Other people seem to have been asked why law and why washU. They just talk with you about anything they find interesting about your application and then spend the vast majority of the time answering any questions you have.pauly_biegler wrote:I have an interview tomorrow at 5, what should I expect!? I will be prepared to bombard them with questions then. Is it acceptable to spend time asking about STL? I've never been so it would be a big jump from me (grew up in Buffalo, went to college in Ohio).

From what I can tell, most people received a decision either Wednesday or Friday after their interview (I interviewed last Wednesday and heard on Friday). But there have been cases of people getting their decision later, like a week or so after interviewing.
Good luck!

Definitely ok to talk about St. Louis. Mine was half talking about the city and half talking about what WUSTL can do to get me NYC biglaw. I interviewed last Thursday evening and my interviewer told me to expect positive news soon. I heard back the next day and got my acceptance email early Friday afternoon. Really not stressful at all. Just try to be you honestly, it seems much more about fit than anything else. Good luck!

Oh and you should be good. I got in with a 3.79/160, and the whole process from applying to being accepted took exactly 2 weeks.pauly_biegler wrote:Thanks all- I'm surprised I got the interview with my numbers- 3.93/160.

thanks for the info. do they relay scholarships later (not to assume I'll be accepted or anything but…) or do you get the offer right in the email?
What was the feeling you got about getting big law in NY coming from STL as well???

Scholarship emails come later. From this thread it seems like 1-3 weeks after, so I can post when I hear (hoping for something haha).pauly_biegler wrote:scotth724 wrote:Oh and you should be good. And obviously for something like that you're gonna need to be high up in the class, but they do have a specific off-campus NYC hiring program along with NYC firms that come to OCI. The career office seems on top of their game though, and I kind of like the idea of going to a school where I'm not competing for the same jobs as everyone else.

Not sure exactly what you are asking but it's basically $200 towards flight, gas, hotel (one night), car rental, etc. For you only, +1's aren't included. Has to be used by April 11th. Seems like most admits are getting them but I've seen a couple ITT that have inquired and been told no. If I'm leaving out anything else you would like to know, you can post it or PM me or whatever.t-14orbust wrote:What are the stips for the travel stipend?
You pay initially then fill out a form while you are there and they reimburse you.

Checking in: Applied 2/10, complete 2/11, got an interview email today. From what I see in this thread, the interviews were pretty chill and conversational, so I'm trying to make myself calm down. AHHHHH! So exciting, but nerve wrecking!
I can't decide between phone or Skype- any recommendations?

Go phone. Sound is better. No real advantage to being face to face over Skype. Could cut out or sound could be bad. I went phone and had a very nice conversation, which led to an eventual acceptance.PhenomenalWoman wrote:Checking in: Applied 2/10, complete 2/11, got an interview email today.
