Would a new targetted LoR this late in the game be considered OK by SLS? Don't want to annoy them.

Decisions and WLs should be out in the next week or two. I would hold off on it to use if you get WL.jim-green wrote:Would a new targetted LoR this late in the game be considered OK by SLS? Don't want to annoy them.

I feel like the level of obsessiveness is ebbing on this forum. Could be that it's Easter, and everyone else has given up on checking their status on Easter. But I, for one, was really hoping the Easter Bunny would bring me good news from SLS. Guess we're having rabbit for dinner tonight, after all.

Re: Stanford c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
This is just my opinion but I think it may be too late now. Obviously it depends what you mean by 'targetted.' If you have something new to add then you should consider it. However, the best option may be to send an updated resume if you have new work experience etc, and perhaps save the LOCI should you be waitlisted.jim-green wrote:Would a new targetted LoR this late in the game be considered OK by SLS? Obviously this is your decision, but I feel that this late in the game it may not make a difference, and may be seen as redundant if you're simply stating your interest in the school. Therefore, I would say send an updated resume now, or wait for a decision and send the LOCI if you are waitlisted.

Thanks, but it is an LoR, not a LOCI.Chucky21 wrote:Obviously this is your decision, but I feel that this late in the game it may not make a difference, and may be seen as redundant if you're simply stating your interest in the school. Obviously this is your application process. If you think that sending in a new LoR this late in the game will give you peace of mind, then you should do it. You don't want to have regrets when you look back on your cycle.jim-green wrote:Would a new targetted LoR this late in the game be considered OK by SLS? Don't want to annoy them.
That said, I agree with chucky and doorkeeper. As far as I'm concerned, all signs suggest that Stanford will be releasing the remainder of its decisions in the next couple of weeks. Unless your LoR is going to add something groundbreaking to your application (e.g. it'll comment on your recent presidential appointment or Rhodes scholarship or whatever), it may not matter much. I think the die is probably cast for the vast majority of people who are still in limbo. Unfortunately we just have to wait for Stanford to let us know what our decisions are.

I really think U.S News should include quality of the admissions process in its rankings....if this was done I think YHS would be more efficient in their decision process. I know they have to had made a good amount of decisions...it's April for Christ sake...why hold on to them this long.
Before I thought they may be still making decisions and cut them some slack. Then I remembered I have to choose between Chicago and columbia by Friday. This decision would be a lot easier if u knew my fate at ALL the schools I applied to.

From my status tracker:
A decision letter has been sent.
Why the hell don't they just send an email too???

It's so odd that Stanford continues to do DLSes in such a slow timeline, instead of doing a big DLS dump.

I have one more week to look forward for a call until I sink into ding/WL depression.

Does anybody else here go to threads with HLS vs. SLS polls and vote that they should go to HLS?

I'm waiting for both schools, so I'm just really conflicted (and a bit angry) when I see those polls...Tom Joad wrote:Does anybody else here go to threads with HLS vs. SLS polls and vote that they should go to HLS?

Didn't get to that one. Thanks for the link. Every seat counts. And it isn't like it hurts the OPs of the threads. Harvard isn't a death sentence. I know I would rather be at SLS though.Mal Reynolds wrote:Something like this?Tom Joad wrote:Does anybody else here go to threads with HLS vs. SLS polls and vote that they should go to HLS?

Re: Stanford c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
i dont think it will hurt. i sent in a new rec and got accepted a couple weeks later. i dont get all these ppl that say to wait to send a loci until u are waitlisted...as long as u dont harrass sls, one loci plus one extra rec letter should be fine. i hate it when ppl say "this late in the game it may not make a difference" bc IT MAY MAKE A DIFFERENCE.jim-green wrote:Thanks, but it is an LoR, not a LOCI.Chucky21 wrote:Obviously this is your decision, but I feel that this late in the game it may not make a difference, and may be seen as redundant if you're simply stating your interest in the school. Tom Joad, you seem like a cool guy despite posting in the Lounge. I wish you the best of luck in the rest of your cycle, especially at Stanford.

1)all my Lounge posts are terrible
or
2)the Lounge is a cesspool and no sane people should frequent the place
But either way, thanks for the good luck! I hope we can be IRL friends at Palo Alto someday, even if I the only way I get there is working at the local Burger King.

Definitely 2. I think you're a funny poster even if haters like bjs think otherwise.Tom Joad wrote:lol as insoj wrote:Tom Joad, you seem like a cool guy despite posting in the Lounge. I wish you the best of luck in the rest of your cycle, especially at Stanford.

Thanks. And I don't sweat the small stuff and really it is probably a good thing because I would really love to work as a comedy writer or stand up comic someday and people really need to keep my inflated ego in check or else I will actually try to do it and be a debt peon.soj wrote:Definitely 2. Just thought I'd share that the local Jack-in-the-Box is much closer to campus, so that's where I'll be - look forward to seeing you guys there should it come to that...Tom Joad wrote:lol as insoj wrote:Tom Joad, you seem like a cool guy despite posting in the Lounge. Eww, Jack in the Box. I went to JitB in Vegas one time, ordered a medium drink, and got a cup that holds more liquid than Vegas gets in precipitation each year.
