They have a "waitlist" status? And a DF status witha letter that says you are on the WL?
No.
Waitlists don't go DF/get a letter.
They just get an EMAIL.
So if you are DF, you are either IN or OUT.
i think it actually updates to "Waitlist" on the status checker.

Thank you for the information. Once they are updating the status check with Wait List I wonder why they dont do Accepted/Rejected

What do you mean that you would add an ED clause? You would tell them that if they accept you, you would go there? I don't see why you would do that. It almost guarantees that you won't get $$. I'm not totally against a LOCI, though.

Not exactly true. They did all WLs by status checker last year and then mailed out a WL letter asking your intent to remain on the WL. http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... =7&t=92010. I was part of said group last year. It's about time for USC to start handing out some WLs this cycle so we'll see.

i think general consensus is that it is unnecessary, unless (i guess) your stats are well above their 75's and you are worried about YP, which USC doesn't really do anyway.

I don't see what it would get you at this stage. Before, a LOCI could have possibly prompted them to put you IR. But now you've made it to that stage. You've been IR for less than a day, which means they've just barely started looking at your file. Unless you think that your original app was really weak and you need to make up some sort of deficiency, I don't think a LOCI is needed or even helpful right now. If you're still IR in a few weeks/months when everyone else who went IR 3/2 is hearing back, then I would send one, but not yet. Just my $0.02.

Yes, at least based on past cycles and what we've seen with the decision batches this year. Also, as the cycle progresses DF groupings appear to become less homogeneous until the very end. Final batches came in around April 26/27 last year and were completely homogeneous from memory (i.e. if DF 4/26 in, if 4/27 out).

Thanks, I have been waitlisted by schools ranked lower than USC (YP? lack of softs?) but I cant imagine them rejecting me. :D

People say that, but has it ever been confirmed that YP really exists?

There's a mountain of evidence suggesting it does. I don't know if any deans will straight out admit to it, but it's just like applying for a job you're overqualified for.

It's a single piece of paper informing you of your acceptance. they say a packet is forthcoming.

I want to see if they'll give me any money--- if they do, it's almost guaranteed i'll attend.
