Re: UCLA? 2011
I wonder how many people are still under review. Any (blind) estimates?
There's quite a few still pending on LSN, but I figure there's a good chunk of those that are people that just didn't update after a decision

I'm not splitter-anything and I got waitlisted. I got $$$ at Texas, dunno what made UCLA hate me.
I don't think my numbers are strong enough to be YP either....

Re: UCLA? 2011
YP = yield protection. Since the percentage of accepted students who end up matriculating to a school is important to a school's US News ranking, some schools will either wait list or reject applicants who have numbers stronger than the numbers of the type of students who attend the school. The schools YP these strong applicants b/c the schools assume that the applicants will go to a higher ranked school. By wait listing or rejecting these applicants, schools protect their yield rate (percentage of accepted students who matriculate).gfunkera86 wrote:Sorry if this is repetitive but what it "YP"

Re: UCLA? 2011
You would think that UCLA being a public school wouldn't YP in-state applicants whose taxes fund the institution (frustrated YP'd CA resident here). That said, they were probably right to do it as I wasn't going to go there over NYU/CLS.Puttanesca wrote:YP = yield protection. Re: UCLA? 2011
So there was that round of WL's this week and then...nothing. The dreaded ding wave did not come to pass, but someone on TLS randomly received an admitted students email. I was going to comment on how the WL'ed should consider themselves lucky since I wonder if there are even any spots left, but I guess that's not the case.
