I'm guessing it is Vandy, think they still do everything through the mail. At least according to the what to expect thread.

Yes, they mail a letter for WL/Rejection and ship a package for acceptance. Makes those final days pretty rough as you're calling FedEX asking if they have a package for you.Dream_weaver32 wrote:I'm guessing it is Vandy, think they still do everything through the mail. nonprofit or govt it is not as harsh so doable there. I'd think in a corporate environment in a non-feeder industry one can get dropped pretty fast for this.IsThisForReal wrote: Small govt/Engineering

Nonprofit manager here too. My baby sure has grown since I started in 2009. With a generous initial capital investment from a Fortune 500 Company, we are now active on every continent but Antarctica (damn!) and are now on track to provide services to more than 5,000 families this calendar year!
I love what I do and now I'm picking a capable steward to manage my baby while I embark on my legal career. Remembering my strong principles will guide me through the inevitable trails and tribulations.

I serve as the professional responsible for laughing my ass off in my geographic entity.HRomanus wrote:I would typically just ignore you, but I think this bears addressing. The nonprofit I work for has a unique professional structure. At the local level (8 counties, 15,000 members) we have a full professional staff that handle largely the business side of the program - community development, fundraising, etc. We each serve as the professional responsible for a geographic entity and the programs that happen within - but largely we're just handling the business aspects. In many respects, it's a flawed business model that harms long-term progress in the local area.Dirigo wrote:Nonprofit manager here too. My baby sure has grown since I started in 2009. Plz put this in your PS alongside an account of how long you've been part of the organization so schools know you're serious about your commitment to the public interest

PLEASE DO NOT QUOTE. WILL EDIT OUT LATER.
I definitely empathize with you. I thank my lucky stars that my mentor has such invaluable insight from being active with international nonprofits and now on UNICEF's executive board. Networking has played such a crucial role in my life. I'm very fortunate to have grown up in such an exclusive town and being exposed to the other side of the tracks, so to say, motivated me to give back in as big a way as possible.
No business model is perfect and a nonprofit's success relies heavily on my personality. I'm like a sponge--soaking up all the knowledge I can on how to be the most effective leader. I recently hired a business advisor to help me on the financial side of things and I've learned so much from her.
While summering in Newport, I got extremely lucky and landed a whale donor. I cried so many tears of joy. You have no idea.
I have also grown tremendously as a leader and am now comfortable with delegating. Overall, it's been an amazingly experience and mutually beneficial for both myself and the world.

Re: TLS c/o 2018 Applicants
The above conversation makes me feel so out of the loop. But hey it's almost the end of October and I haven't submitted a single application, which makes me feel really out of the loop! I changed my PS topic last night and I think I'm on the right track; it's a different perspective on a topic I submitted last year. The problem is that I can't stop thinking about my personal statement and I feel like I haven't done any work (at my job) this week!! At least with the LSAT you could stop thinking about it if you weren't drilling.
