Idea 1.
Why hasn't JS given out more JS2s? a. because she hates apples b. no one delivered her dominos c. she's already accepted too many awesome people.

There's been very few times I've been thankful my parents have been unemployed for the last how ever many years/have absolutely no assets. This is one of them.

If you are 26 or over, do you still need to disclose parent financial information on the need-access applications?

Is there a specific policy regarding this at Harvard/Stanford/Yale?

I would appreciate any guidance anyone could provide in this matter. My father makes a bit of money, though not enough to underwrite any of my education, and I wouldn't ask him to anyhow.

HLS looks at parent information until age 29 according to JS herself at an info session

I find this particularly vexing. I know that it's just how it is everywhere, but I already bled my parents dry in college and there's no way they could afford to help me at all now - nor should they. My sister was married when she started med school and she STILL had to provide parent financial information...crazy.

I've been looking into this a lot, and they do look at parental income until you're 29, though at a gradated scale. The weird part about this, though is

Harvard Law School does not assume that parents will actually provide any assistance toward the pursuit of their children's legal education. While we use parent resources as an integral part of the rationing mechanism for grant eligibility, we have no expectations of what any given parent/family will actually do.

So if your folks have money but don't want to help you out, sorry, but you'll just have to take out more loans to cover what you would otherwise get in grants.

This actually makes sense. Suppose you have two 22 year olds, both without any substantial assets in their own name. One of them has rich parents, one of them has poor parents. If they both finance their law school education through loans, which do you think is taking more of a risk? Even if the rich parents aren't going to help you pay for law school, they're going to provide a safety net for extreme situations.
