You guy are welcome. I wish there had been someone who was in my position now when I was an incoming 1L. I'll be around all summer when you guys get your class assignments and I can tell you about professors, places to eat lunch, things to do downtown. As my 3yrs come to an end (4 finals left!), your 3 yrs are gearing up. It was probably best 3 yrs of my life. I met so many great people, did some many things, learned more than I can even fathom. Does it suck? yes but it doesn't suck as bad when you have good friends enjoying the suck with you.jacketman03 wrote:I'm going to say (hopefully on behalf of the other people ITT) that I want to thank you for your insight this cycle, Grad Student, it's been invaluable. I have been waitlisted since 2/18/2011. Is there any hope?!

My status checker finally reads: "seat forfeited" so hopefully that will directly open up one spot since I had paid the deposit.Mce252 wrote:kbarry wrote:I have been waitlisted since 2/18/2011. Is there any hope?!

I've done a very unscientific survey of the "Waitlisted" applicants on lawschoolnumbers.com
I recognize that this group is undoubtedly not the complete waitlist. However, the range of LSAT/GPA reflected thereon is probably a representative range for the actual waitlisted candidates.
Here they are:
150/3.28 150/3.24
148/3.59 152/3.45
151/3.43 148/3.96
152/3.2 158/2.37
151/3.6 No scores listed -- 2 candidates
You could throw a small blanket over these, they are that close together. I'm guessing that at this point, when and if a spot opens up, the admissions office is likely considering softs to a greater degree than perhaps in the initial phase of consideration.
Two applicants are shown to have been admitted off of the waitlist, and they both had an LSAT score of 153. Several on lawschoolnumbers.com were rejected--they all had an LSAT of 150 or below. So, this at least suggests a break point.
Anyone on the waiting list should have "hope" but it appears to be a factor of how many places will remain open after the admitted candidates make their final decisions. Having submitted evidence of your Pulitzer or Nobel Prize will undoubtedly help as well.

Not sure when I'll hear back, but this wait-list is killing me.
I'm taking the GMAT saturday for UH.
Would you guys go to the MBA program at UH and then re-take the LSATs in order to apply for the Dual MBA/JD or if you got accepted to South Texas, just go there.
Also, I don't have an answer yet, but i'm hoping I've been accepted at TSU, 152/2.9

I think your questions depend mostly on your personal goals. Do you want to be a lawyer or do you want to use your law degree for business?DarkPhantom wrote:Not sure when I'll hear back, but this wait-list is killing me.

Re: South Texas 2011
I considered applying to STCL as a very prestigious partner from my firm went there, but my heart just wasn't in the school and I didn't want to hold a (possible) seat from someone that really wanted to attend. (Things have worked out in my cycle as I was accepted/will be attending my top choice.)merc280 wrote:just got off the phone with them. App came back from review, will give me a decision today.
Those of you that post in this thread seem to be headed in a very good direction re: your legal careers; I've watched and/or posted in several threads, and the people here are some of the nicest that I've seen on these boards. Of course, as I know from experience, the legal profession is all about hard work and drive, but I'm a strong believer that you need heart and desire to go along with it. Some of the most amazing, respected and successful attorneys I know are some of the nicest people that I know, too.
Good luck to you today, merc. And, good luck to everyone that will be attending STCL this fall!

yeah thanks. unlucky for me, the thread on my school here on TLS has almost no members or posts so I guess I might be hanging out here for a little while longer.
