CLS probably reviewed the app without the LOR, or bumped it to front of the line. They read in submission orderwheathins wrote:HOLY SMOKES. That was fast! Submitted Nov 13, but not complete until Jan 25 because it took me a while to secure my second academic LOR.
You must have a spectacular app for a KJD. Did you also get JS1/JS2 from HLS?

Re: Columbia c/o 2020 applicants (2016-2017)
Quick question, but my LSAT is way below 25th and my GPA is below me 25th as well, not a URM, still in undergrad and didn't write a why Columbia or interview...but I got put on the wait list 15 days after going complete. I genuinely have no idea how this happened, does this mean they just really liked my softs and does it bode well for my chances of getting accepted if I show interest? CLS is obviously my absolute top choice now and I would love any advice or tips on how to best improve my chances are getting in/what my next steps should be. Thanks in advance

Unfortunately, you're probably not getting in. Columbia likes to waitlist a large number of students, many of which have no reasonable chance at admission (people with sub-160 have gotten waitlisted instead of rejected).JGPGH wrote:Quick question, but my LSAT is way below 25th and my GPA is below me 25th as well, not a URM, still in undergrad and didn't write a why Columbia or interview...but I got put on the wait list 15 days after going complete. If you are below both 25ths and non-URM, no amount of LOCI or Why Columbia will make a difference.

This, unfortunately. LSN data suggests that very few people make it in off the waitlist: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... p?t=225363 (from 2014, but glancing at the past few cycles there continue to be very few WL->Admits).01panm wrote:Unfortunately, you're probably not getting in. Over the past 10 cycles on LSN, CLS has taken 1 of the 185 non-URMs applicants below both 25ths.

Haha definitely did not apply to Harvard. Felt like even applying to Columbia was a stretch!

Got it. I knew the chances were really small, and the reason why I was asking was to get an honest answer so thanks guys! Definitely kind of a bummer, why they gotta play me like that!!Leliana wrote:This, unfortunately. Filling in the Financial Aid Questionnaire. Anyone have ideas on/know anything about how to increase chances of receiving a larger grant as opposed to filling out loans? Or is this purely numbers?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I applied in October, interviewed in Dec., and I'm getting worried. Should I write a Why Columbia or is it too late in the process?

I have one already drafted. Will be emailing it to them if I don't hear back by next Tuesday. It could be a good idea... we really don't have much to lose at this pointNickel94 wrote:We're basically the same, numbers and all....I'm considering writing one soon.lauren22 wrote:I applied in October, interviewed in Dec., and I'm getting worried. Interviewed yesterday. GPA is above median but I'm way below the 25th LSAT. I figured the interview would be about my weaknesses since Columbia is a reach for me, but my interviewer just asked about my current job and why Columbia. I'm relieved it wasn't a grilling session!

Anyone else notice that there seems to be an extreme lack of Columbia Law apparel? Not that it's a deal breaker, but...
