I've been complaining to my friend that I haven't heard anything back since I went UR1 on 1/19, but I didn't realize there were people from December who haven't heard back. Hope people who applied earlier hear something soon :/

Yup. Radio silence since 12/8. I start to complain and I then I think of the October waiters *heavy sigh*periwinkley wrote:I've been complaining to my friend that I haven't heard anything back since I went UR1 on 1/19, but I didn't realize there were people from December who haven't heard back. I totally got the smaller packet with the post-it notes. What's the deal with the pizza box?

They used to provide acceptance packets in a unique 'pizza box'. When I got my acceptance call, I asked when I could expect to receive my box, and the admissions officer said that they were moving in a different direction this cycle. I think that it just came in a boring old envelope. Never been so disappointed in my life.

Damn, that's so unique and fun! What a shame they decided to get rid of it. The view book thingy I got is still great, but I like that they used to do something outside the box!AFP wrote:http://i.imgur.com/Sok1Bfl.jpg?1gramps wrote:+1RZ5646 wrote:What's this pizza box I hear of?

So do they overlap their ASW with Columbia's so you can't go to both? Columbia's is 3/2-3/3 and NYU's is 3/3-3/4

No no. I think quite the opposite. They expect you to make it a three day extravaganza. When does CLS' ASW end and when does NYU's begin?gamerish wrote:So do they overlap heir ASW with Columbia so you can't go to both? Columbias is 3/2-3/3 and NYUs is 3/3-3/4

CLS's doesn't end until 6pm. I can't imagine NYU's starts that late into the day.fliptrip wrote:No no. I think quite the opposite. They expect you to make it a three day extravaganza. Well, I thought that they had grouped admitted students into favorites that got the pizza box and lesser admits that got the post-it box and that I was in the latter group. This makes me feel better.AFP wrote:http://i.imgur.com/Sok1Bfl.jpg?1gramps wrote:+1RZ5646 wrote:What's this pizza box I hear of?

I kind of think they did, because the second ASW for both of them also overlaps (March 30-31 for CLS and March 31-April 1). I think maybe they want us to choose to prioritize one over the other, because if they purposely did it to make it easier and more convenient for admits to go to both, they would've made them back to back or something but not overlapgamerish wrote:So do they overlap their ASW with Columbia's so you can't go to both? My dad wants to visit NYC with me and see the law school, so he'll be popping in on ASW for at least a little bit. Apparently other people on TLS think that's the worst thing in the world, so full disclosure everyone: my dad might be on campus for a little while. If you're going to ostracize me, please make it quick.

I'm sure you won't be the only one! In all honesty, I wish one of my parents could go and see the schools with me. I liked having their input when it came to deciding for undergrad.Tempo wrote:My dad wants to visit NYC with me and see the law school, so he'll be popping in on ASW for at least a little bit. Haha, I hope so! I like to think most of our parents would love to see the school we'll be studying law at, especially in New York.jtg21 wrote:I'm sure you won't be the only one! I think its the opposite. They're probably trying to make it easier for people who don't live close and want to attend both. Theres a lot of overlap between admitted students of both schools and they know it can be a huge hardship, both in terms of money and time, for people to have to go to NY twice within a relative short period of time.
As for there being some overlap on one of the days...its not the end of the world if you miss a few hours of one of the days. I think both schools would prefer you to miss a few of one (or both) than to miss out on one entirely because you picked one over the other. Also, they're about a 25 min subway ride apart. (that 1,2,3 line tho)

Re: NYU c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I could complain all day about this, but it sort of boggles me, too. I suppose for a school, if you're looking at a fringe admit, it makes sense to have more candidates to consider... but then why even do rolling admissions?coldmonkey13 wrote:I'm genuinely curious what leads a school like NYU to take literally months to review an application. Like to be UR2 since November 17 is just absolutely nuts in my mind, like how can it possibly be that difficult to decide if someone is a good fit? My file is kind of unique but three months unique? Not really.
