Bad enough this was put on blast, but to have to be next to your section-mates during the unveiling? This is cruel.UnamSanctam wrote:1Ls were in a mandatory professionalism meeting when the email got sent, too. So there was a section of students who were just freaking the fuck out.

I'm sorry if this has been asked before - I'm currently abroad and haven't followed this thread recently. Is there a scholarship response deadline?

Another day another update, complete 1/30.
I originally applied to Michigan because I figured, hey why not, someone was paying for the apps and who knows. Now, Michigan has become the school I really do want to attend for a number of reasons. Would it be a good idea to send a "Why Michigan?" essay to admissions, maybe including my shift in mindset during the waiting process, and why I really do think Michigan would be ideal for me?

I think submitting a Why Michigan or another of the optional essays is a great way to show continued interest after having already submitted your application. I think anything you can do to let them know UM is your top choice can only help--as long as you're not pushy and/or obnoxious.emarxnj wrote:Another day another update, complete 1/30.

It seems as though UMich has pretty much gone silent short of a few things here or there. they're a bit reach for me, but it looks like most people in my score range (<166) and applied around the same time as me (october-november) have already heard. I was ED-RD btw also.
Think we can expect a good deal of movement thurs/fri/sat?

I applied in early November. Did not receive the "we haven't forgotten you" email. I figured that meant I'd hear from them soon, for better or worse.
But I'm still sitting at complete. Anyone else in the same situation?

Me. I feel like I keep posting the same "I'm forgotten" post in every thread. But I am getting forgotten everywhere.Jaqen wrote:I applied in early November. Did not receive the "we haven't forgotten you" email. I figured that meant I'd hear from them soon, for better or worse.

When did you go complete? I think that rule-of-thumb is to wait three months or until you are waitlisted. If they haven't had a chance to review yet, you don't want to come off as pushy. Do you have any accomplishments since then that you can share?emarxnj wrote:Another day another update, complete 1/30.

If you do submit a LOCI, I would limit it to "why I really do think Michigan would be ideal" and skip the "shift in mindset" narrative. Ideally you are the kind of applicant who does research BEFORE making decisions. Your situation isn't unusual I'm sure, but you don't want to present yourself as someone who is flaky or impulsive.

I applied early October and received the weird email, but still haven't gotten a decision, and I haven't sent in a LOCI because I wrote a Why Mich and didn't want to be redundant. Based on LSN, it seems quite a few people in my numbers range have been rejected, so maybe that's forthcoming, but this waiting is making me nervous and making me re-think whether I should send a LOCI. I am just worried that if I am waitlisted, I won't have anything new to add to show my interest. Thoughts?

Question re: complete v. UR. Does Michigan ever change the status to UR, or will I just keep getting complete status updates? I think so far it's 1/24, 1/29, and 1/30...
