In defense of UVA, they WL boat loads of people with all kinds of numbers. It's probably partly to increase yield, but they also need to account for taking so many people ED and in-state.

Thanks, I am hoping for the best. I can't tell you how many times I went back and forth on whether or not to ED, but the $$$ issue kept popping into my head and, for better or worse, I decided to stick with RD.

You know, its not for everyone, that is for sure. Being a splitter, who knows what will happen with schools and $$. Best of luck to you. If you get off the WL with UVA, I dont know how often they give scholarships to "splitters"

Is there any chance of being admitted to UVA at this point in the cycle?

Sorry if this has been asked... does UVA only look at your highest LSAT?

Also, curious: say person A scores 2 mid-160s and a 170. Person B takes it once and gets a 170. Both are 75th percentile GPA, accepted to UVA. Is there anything to suggest that B has a better shot at a scholarship than A?

Thanks... I'm toying with the idea of deferring my admission to fall 2013, retaking in October... I think a 169 would give me shot at a scholarship (and I was consistently practice testing 168-170 so I think it's feasible), and working during that year.

It's a risk, but it could potentially save me $20k/year if I manage to break the median.

169 with your GPA should get you $ (the 20K/year you mentioned is what I got with those numbers). I'm not sure if they'll just grant you a deferral though. From what I understand, it's usually only if you have some incredible offer or some serious illness. Can't hurt to ask though.

Also, I'm not sure what you mean by saving money "if you break median." UVA's only stip is that you remain in good academic standing, which I think is like a 2.3 GPA and no behavior issues.

Sorry I was vague -- to qualify for a scholarship I believe you have to be over (or nearly over) both the LSAT and GPA medians. If I can "break the [LSAT] median," since my GPA is set, I can hopefully pull off the $20k/year.

UVA's policy is actually much more lenient. See "May I defer my enrollment?" (I called today to confirm) http://www.law.virginia.edu/html/prospectives/faqs.htm

Oh that's interesting. I think I was confusing it with another school, or maybe just with getting merit aid deferred.

Anyone know what happened to the "In at UVA" thread? It seems to have disappeared...

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
