Yeah I definitely hope I'm wrong too because I was EAC on the same date.wackjickham wrote:I am rejecting your theory on the grounds that I don't like it. I'm not sure if this has been postulated yet, but I think that Cornell has split all EA applicants into two halves: those who were complete by the first week in November, maybe 11/2, and those who were complete after. We have seen the two decisions of those applicants. Deferrals and rejections. The next batch will be acceptances for the rest who have been complete in the first half and haven't heard yet. Then we will see the same happen for the rest of us who were complete after 11/2. Deferrals, rejections, then acceptances. Does this make sense? Please someone debunk this because I feel my blood pressure rising as I type. The only thing that would have this not make sense is if someone has been deferred or rejected that was complete within the second week of November. According to prior posts, that hasn't happened yet.Insight?
But seriously, I hope this isn't true. Plenty of people with similar numbers to me have been deferred.

This is kinda funny since my numbers are pretty borderline.

If I'm lucky enough to get in and decide not to go I will PM you and withdraw from Cornell and then demand that you take my spot.Burger in a can wrote:Oh, Cornell, I thought we had a chance

Oh, Cornell, I thought this was going to workley
to me you were more attractive than Berkeley
with your mountains of snow and days without sun
your library pics- I thought you were the one!
But then, oh Cornell, much to my distress
I spent time online, specifically TLS
where I realized that all my 165 pride

But I stayed strong, oh Cornell, I made my way through
Didn't let myself get bummed out over you
I even rebuilt my pride some, thought maybe I'd fluke

But today, sweet Cornell, checking status in boredom
I sank when I saw "waitlisted" at Fordham
So now, oh Cornell, I finally see
that you and I prob'ly aren't meant to be.

I think we tried the whole poetic flattery thing in the Fordham area, and we were mostly rewarded with comfortable spots on the waitlist...clint4law wrote:If I'm lucky enough to get in and decide not to go I will PM you and withdraw from Cornell and then demand that you take my spot.Burger in a can wrote:Oh, Cornell, I thought we had a chance

I'm guessing the letters have already been sent out the day our status checker went to decision? Does anybody know how long it usually takes to get in the mail? For people who were deferred how long did it take to get your letter?

For the people who got deferred and had their status checker updated on 12/27, I think the letter wasn't sent until 12/30, which was 6 days after they went DR. That may have been just due to the Thanksgiving holiday, though.

I think three. DR 11/20, 11/24 and now 12/4?
Not to feed the fire or anything, but if there were two sets of deferral decisions, there potentially could be two sets of rejection decisions? I'm still not convinced I should be relieved being EAC. I really should join the USS Bitter Pessimism at some point.
[EDIT] I thought I could see into the future...

I went back through the thread pages, and the first two batches were 11/20 and 11/24, not 11/22 as I had originally said.

I don't really want to call. This is too depressing! (I was DR on 12/4).

Why? So you'd rather wait for another week with an awful feeling? May as well find out now.crombot wrote:I don't really want to call. This is too depressing! (I was DR on 12/4).

Ah I see! I had to call twice. I said that a few of my "friends" were receiving their decision over the phone and I was wondering if it would be possible to have the same done for me. I cant tell you how awkward it is to be told your rejected via phone call haha!

Re: Cornell waiting room
B/c it's pretty certain at this point. I have already accepted the rejection! Easier than being begged to be told "no" over the phone.tram988 wrote:Why?
