Got the acceptance email yesterday
My interview was tragic (it lasted only 9 mins) and since I'm an international student I was expecting to be dinged right away.
So those of you who bombed the interview, stay optimistic!!

This seems to be a common theme. Chicago is really adept at making applicants feel like their interviews were awful.

ABSOLUTELY. I got off Skype after my interview convinced that not only did I not get into their school, but I also would never want to go there after such a cold and unpleasant experience. I wish I had known then that the interviews are not all very personable, but the people at Chicago are, and that a cold interview doesn't mean that they don't like you.

If Chicago could change one thing about their admissions process, I wish it was to make their interviews more conversational.

Just finished my interview. About 14 mins. Definitely felt a little rushed, and the questions were framed in a way that was kind of different from the type in the interview thread. But, that said, if you had prepared for the questions there, it would just slightly change the way you gave the very same answers. PM me for details, since I will wait a while before talking about it openly.

mine was literally 8 minutes start to finish, including a few questions from me, and I got in, so unless you really, really mess it up somehow I don't think the interview is going to keep you from getting in.

Send anything and everything. The point is to make Chicago really feel for your interest in the school.

Since applying, I've gotten to know my Constitutional Law Professor for this semester and he got his JD from Chicago. If I am waitlisted could I send a letter of recommendation from him?

Any thoughts on sending a DS not included with one's initial app along with the Why Chicago for WL folks? I know UChi hates extra docs after submission but I wonder if it would be beneficial to send one in. I figure it could back fire as well.

I only have two letters of rec so far. Would a prof/alum letter really help? Also, how would I go about sending another letter of rec after being wait listed?

I've done this before - you just send them in the same way that your previous recommenders received letters.

So you generate a letter in LSAC that is sent to the professor's email. The professor receives the letter and sends it back to LSAC. Then you push the letter from LSAC to the school. It's actually very simple.

I think that any recommendation that is GREAT, especially one from a professor, is going to make U of C like you more. It's a very intellectual law community so academic recs play a big role in the decision.

For the record, I haven't been admitted to U of C's Law School so my advice is based on reading this forum for the last two years and going to U of C as a graduate student for the last two years.

I can't say that the letter will help, but it won't hurt so if you're serious about U of C, do it!

I got in off the waitlist last year. I did not send a DS, with my application or later with my LOCI. My LOCI did discuss my diversity in passing, though. I'm not sure of the right answer to your question tbh. My gut reaction is not to send a DS due to Chi's general aversion to supplementary materials. But I very well may be wrong.
