What do you mean? Is the big batch of UCR a bad sign then?shatra wrote:If the cycle goes anything like it did on LSN last year, we should be expecting a giant bunch of rejections soon.

It's not a bad sign. It means you were a competitive candidate, but not good enough to be admitted straightaway during the administrative review phase.czelede wrote:What do you mean? looking at LSN last year, 2/18 was judgement day. About 10-15 acceptances, and a whoooooooooole lot of rejections.

No, I just mean last year two days before committee reviews started they rejected a lot of people, if you made it to committee review you're one of the lucky ones!czelede wrote:What do you mean? Re: Berkeley 2011 applicants
Just got the committee review email too, same dates.
Anyone know how many applicants are passed on to faculty review, and the approximate percentage of who gets admitted or rejected from the review?
(tough question, I know, but i'm always amazed by the collective wisdom of TLS

Committee review isn't a bad thing. Lots of people get in through it, including me!
They say somewhere around the same percentage that get admitted in general, which I think is around 12%.
If you get in through review they do put an asterisk next to your name in the Facebook. That's a little embarrassing.

I have a similar question to some of those above. When seems to be the cut off for when people who received the committee review emails went under review?
If I went UR 12/6 and didn't get an email, am I screwed?

Re: Berkeley 2011 applicants
To be fair, Berkeley's office should still be open for another hour so maybe they aren't all out yet. Maybe they finally whittled down people from Oct/Nov to people they want to accept, reject, and hold for faculty review. Who knows?ugbadger wrote:I have a similar question to some of those above. Just a word of "encouragement" for those who have been under review a while but didn't get the FR email: until you get the ding, you are still in the game. (Not really encouraging I know-- hence the "" above even though I dislike using them that way.) My guess is that Dean Tom tries to level load the two rounds. You may be in reserve to fill that second round depending on the # and quality of late apps.ugbadger wrote:I have a similar question to some of those above. Bilbo: awesome one about the *. Extremely funny considering how hard the school works to avoid ranking etc.
