speaking from personal experience, not medaling at nationals sucks. but not making it to nationals sucks even more, especially when you thought you had a shot. whether or not this applies to JR1 is debatable, but while we're speaking in figure skating analogies, that's my take on it.
edit: on the other hand, i'm not michelle kwan. i'll take a silver medal any day!
hm, maybe i actually belong in the pessimism thread.

Ouch.
I would rather play in the Super Bowl than go 4-12, although with the latter I could get a good draft pick hmmmm....

Good luck! I haven't changed yet but I submitted a day later than you. Maybe tomorrow.

URM or not, do you really think you deserve a JR1 or JR2 with a GPA below 3.0? You can't be serious. I don't mean to be an asshole but we're talking about Harvard here, it should be the best of the best, the ones who worked hard in College. Anyways, good luck.
Ouch indeed.

I'm in this boat with you crackberry, and I agree that it's irritating.
I personally agree with whoever stated earlier that they'd rather get a JR1 and no JR2... Maybe it's just because I haven't gotten a JR1 but from this uninformed point of view I think I'd at least rather know that I was worth considering, whereas if I don't get a JR1 it's kind of like a slap in the face, like
they're laughing that you even applied.
That's EXACTLY what they're doing.

Trust me. It's not fun.

Question - HLS e-mailed me a while back, told me the application was complete and I could use the status checker to keep up with it. Unlike other schools, however, they didn't give me an initial login/password. Same thing has happened with Cornell.
Anyone know what I should do?

FWIW I think we still have a shot at JR1. I looked at LSN and it seems like people with these numbers, even those who in the end got rejected or WL'd all got phone interviews.

You found people on LSN who had TS1 and no TS2?

No I just thought that people had looked at last years info and couldn't find anything but I guess I was wrong. I haven't looked myself

you might be confusing that w/ people who looked at individuals who received PRE-THANKSGIVING TS1's and seeing how virtually all of them received TS2's in the november and december acceptance batches
thats at least true on TLS, but iunno about on LSN
i mean, 830/1100 get acceptances...the rest dont - im sure at least some wound up on LSN

I got one as a non-URM with a ~170, ~3.9; I did not, however, get a JR2 (yet...) and my JR1 was on 11/3, so I don't know how much weight you want to put on me. A few URMs have gotten them with lower stats.

The lowest individual stats (on LSN) are 170 and 3.67 but they have accompanying numbers that are at/above 75%.
