Glad that we are not alone. LOL
How are rest of the cycles going for you guys?
So far, UVA and Berkeley are total radio silence for me.
Splitter here.

Re: UVA c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
I hope you're right, but I seriously doubt it. If you look at the numbers, Michigan gives aid to a significantly higher number of matriculants than UVA. That being said, I will certainly be trying to use my Michigan offer to get UVA to match. If that happened, I'd be in Charlottesville for sure come August.smilingorch wrote:You should be able to negotiate and get a match! Things have been crazy this cycle -- I was offered $$ from UVA but nothing from Michigan, but the admissions package did say they take aid from peer schools into account, and I'm sure UVA would do the same since they're comparably ranked. You should definitely ask them. Other people seem to have had luck!myronbolitar wrote:Admitted a month ago with a 3.87 and 168, but haven't heard anything on the fin aid end. Michigan offered a $90K dean's scholarship, but I really love UVA and hoping for an offer of some sort... Any idea what my chances are either based on personal experience or knowledge from previous years?

Sorry if this has been mentioned, but do acceptance packages come via UPS? Just got a notification that I have a UPS package but I haven't ordered anything so I'm trying to decide what it is instead of doing work.

Re: UVA c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Anyone have any advice about scholarship negotiation here? The question is whether to wait for more scholarships to come in for negotiation purposes, or use the one peer offer I have now. UVA offered me a scholarship, but Michigan offered me one which more than doubles it. Still waiting on scholarship info from Berkeley, and Penn, which hasn't been sent out yet, as well as Duke which I should be receiving any day now. Is it better to play the card I have now before scholarship funds dry out, or wait to see if I can get a better overall hand to bolster the case I should receive a match?
UVA's really my top choice, but not sure it's financially viable for me with what moneys on the table

Got wait listed
does anyone know what the probability of actually getting in is? I've read a few articles that say it differs every year, but not sure if it's steadied in the past couple of years? Like how genuine are they when saying that "this is not a soft rejection and that they can see you excelling at UVA/want to find a place for you?" Will definitely be sending LOCI, but not sure what to expect

I don't know odds of getting off the waitlist, but I will say I'm not 100% surprised with that outcome looking at LSN for this cycle. There are two walls - one for anything below 3.86 (median GPA), and one for anything below 169. If you're above either of those, you've got a good shot of getting in. If you're below both, it doesn't look too promising.

With the URM status, you should be a strong candidate, but URM outlooks are really hard to predict. I'm pretty sure UVA is in the middle range for T14s in terms of WL activity (CLS and Duke are awful with WLs). Your chances probably aren't great, but they aren't nonexistent IMOabc12345678 wrote:168 LSAT, 3.45 GPA, Ivy, URM, Strong softs/work experience, 1 year out of UG.mrgstephe wrote:Probably depends on your stats. I spelled it out University of Virginia Law School in my first reference and then interchanged "Virginia" and "Virginia Law" subsequently, and I was admitted so I guess they're fine with that! Also they call themselves Virginia Law in the website so I don't think it'd be an issue.AllHailKingMao wrote:How do you guys spell UVA in your letters?
