Highly doubtful they would match. They are much stingier than UVA and based on what other posters have said, it seems they are mainly concerned with HYSCCN when considering matching aid or beating another offer.digifly wrote:Based on all of your collective knowledge, do you think it's likely that Penn would match and/or compete with a $135K scholarship from UVA? Seems like only the named scholarships go that high, but just wanted to check.

It took me over a week to go complete, and I'm still not UR (submitted a month ago). Penn hates me.ohpobrecito wrote:Submitted last night, already complete. Man I love Penn.
Congrats to the new admits, though! I just gotta whine somewhere.

Just got a Toll invite...does anyone know much about it? How many people are invited? What the post-grad requirements are (can't seem to get on the Penn Law website...)?

Congrats! I must have been wrong earlier about the timeline. The initial essay submission deadline was 2/15, but perhaps there are multiple rounds. The scholarship requires 3 out of the first 5 years after law school to be spent in the public interest (non-profit law firm, state or federal government, nonprofit, NGO, etc). The other 2/5 is meant to give you time for clerkships, but I don't know if there are any restrictions on, say, a firm for 1.5-2 years followed by 3 years of PI work, or vice versa.sd1234 wrote:Just got a Toll invite...does anyone know much about it? When are your essays due? I know the interview offers go out by the March 15th, with interviews being held on March 21st or April 9th (presumably scheduled around the ASW and Preview Day).

This is awesome, I'm planning on PI anyway (as I'm sure they gathered from my app), so I have nothing to lose!

Thank you for the info. I figured it was a longshot but I wanted to make sure that my leaning towards UVA wasn't too rash...JamesDean1955 wrote:Highly doubtful they would match. I am such an idiot. Figured I'd write my Levy essay after work today. Check the email to review the prompts...the due date was yesterday.
I think I'm still gonna write something out and send it in. Can't hurt, can it?

Are any of my 1/28 or 1/31 completes at UCR1 yet? It seems like Penn is moving pretty quickly for some January submitters --I'm getting nervous that I'm not under review yet.

Haha thanks! And I wouldn't worry about trying to figure out the "rhyme or reason" going on behind the scenes in the admissions department(s), as it seems this application cycle has been particularly inexplicable. Perhaps this has something to do with it? http://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/31/educa ... .html?_r=0bob loblaw11 wrote:Congrats!!
