It's been awhile since I've dropped by the Berkeley thread - I've come to terms with Cornell - but I'll be goddamned if it hasn't become a tangled mass of exposed nerves up in here.

+1. Just dug into last year's info myself and this is strongly supported.sean21 wrote:...Based on last year's cycle though the closer to the decision date provided the more likely you are to be rejected. Those who heard a few days before the decision date reported acceptances. Those continued until the day before the date provided, with a sprinkle of waitlists. But based on LSN, everyone who heard on the date provided was rejected....
Could someone provide more support for this though?sean21 wrote:Also, numbers don't seem to matter in faculty review. Having the same GPA or lsat won't mean much at all in this phase of the game. This is where it gets truly holistic.

As for more holistic in FR you saw a couple of people who just got accepted who are closer to Berkeley's medians and they were in faculty review. This is in contrast to the sky high, above both medians, 170+/3.8+ crew that they seemed to be almost exclusively accepting up to this point. For more on that see: pretty much all my posts in this thread for the last 3 weeks.

Re: Berkeley c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
I've read every post of this thread since I got FR a few weeks ago. I understand the mystique around Berkeley's admissions process too. It's just that sean21 said that numbers were all but irrelevant in FR. I was just wondering if someone could link to something to speak to this, because this is a pretty strong claim.BigZuck wrote:As for more holistic in FR you saw a couple of people who just got accepted who are closer to Berkeley's medians and they were in faculty review. Re: Berkeley c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
numbers are clearly important to reach the FR stage. The most recent wave of rejects seems to be comprised of numbers jusst below 25ths, some just below medians. But in FR stage there has already been a 162 lsat (serviceman w 5 yrs WE) accepted and I have heard from current 1Ls that WE and interesting apps really come into play here. Perhaps FR does have a target median for acceptances but id bet a lot that it's much lower than the dean's admitsWhatOurBodiesAreFor wrote:I've read every post of this thread since I got FR a few weeks ago. Outside of Berk/Stanford, I've pretty much decided on Chicago. Once Berkeley makes a decision, my app season is all but over because there is no way I'm getting into Stanfordshntn wrote:I'm kinda looking forward to getting it over with so I can join the Ding Bar.WhiteyCakes wrote:Come on Berk....let's make today the day.

Just got a call from Oakland Area code. I don't really know anyone there. Almost freaked out.

Anyone else desperately hoping for a 5:00 p.m. e-mail?! Every day that passes until Friday now I will probably be less and less hopeful. Sometimes I wish I did not read TLS because otherwise I would have been blissfully, though ignorantly, hopeful all week long.WhatOurBodiesAreFor wrote:...Based on last year's cycle though the closer to the decision date provided the more likely you are to be rejected. In today! Via email and status checker.
Previously under review since around 12/6, no faculty review. Really a pleasant surprise, I definitely thought a ding or FR2 was coming, but apparently there is still hope for people who have been waiting!

Haha, not surprised to cause suspicion, but I'm truly just a long-time lurker (note my join date.) Not entirely sure why this pushed me over the edge into posting, I think mostly surprise that no one else had reported an acceptance today.ManOfTheMinute wrote:first post? either a troll or congrats, and I'm a pessimistpinnipotto wrote:In today! If you can get LSN to function, I'm on there under the same name and have been maintaining my profile for the past few months

URM or notable softs? Harvard and Berkeley with a sub-3.7 GPA is pretty impressive.pinnipotto wrote:Haha, not surprised to cause suspicion, but I'm truly just a long-time lurker (note my join date.)
