At what point, if any, would you have been willing to ride a waitlist after you were accepted to Harvard?

Definitely right up to Harvard's ASW (first weekend of March), and possibly another few weeks after that.

ETA: I interpreted this question as "at what point would you have accepted a spot on the waitlist" and not "at what point would you continue to stay on the waitlist if you had already been WL'ed," if that makes sense.

Makes sense. It's interesting how our preferences can change to align with our options. At one point, Harvard was definitely my dream school.

Yes, Stanford was my absolute #1 going into the cycle. It's hard to know how much of the change in my thinking has been due to "sour grapes" and how much has been due to incorporating new information.

So I am not as much of a LSN guru as some of you, but I just counted 65(ish) accepted students for this cycle and 64(ish) accepted students from last cycle. Could that mean that Stanford has already accepted their usual quota and is just taking a long time to let people know they are not in?

It's not really good to draw inferences like that from LSN...

It certainly could mean that, but it probably doesn't.

2010-2011 TLSers may have had better/worse luck than 2011-2012 TLSers; the overall number of Stanford applicants on TLS is almost certainly changed; people could be reporting acceptances at greater/lesser rates; Stanford could be expecting a higher/lower yield compared to last year, and would change their acceptances accordingly, etc.

Well, it turned out that @LSACTrollop and @LSACSilverFox were the reason that the February LSAT scores were released later than expected. It would seem that they've infiltrated the Stanford and Yale admissions offices because they wanted to bring their naughty, disruptive shenanigans to other venues. Ooo la la!

Well, it turned out that @LSACTrollop and @LSACSilverFox were the reason that the February LSAT scores were released later than expected. I went to LSN and grabbed all the applications which were either submitted before or complete before 2012 started. I assume this is the "soft hold" group. Then I deleted all the applications that are Pending. Then I filled in approximate "decision" dates for those with decisions w/out dates using their last updated date. This is an assumption so be a bit skeptical here.

That gave me the following data (sorted by decision date):




Then I gave each application a unique number in order of decision date (or last update) and plotted out the submission dates. This should allow us to see if SLS is going through their "soft hold" applications in any particular order. Though again the method is a bit sketchy:



As far as I can am willing to speculate--this graph ended up dis-confirming theories that SLS has finished rejecting those early submitters in the soft hold category. One who really likes wild speculation might argue that there are two semi-linear blobs such that SLS seems to have made two sweeps through the soft hold group, roughly in order of submission. Even if this were the case it would still lead to the conclusion that they very well might be doing this a third time.

So that was my early morning project... I hope it helps to keep the neurosis of this thread at an all time high (WE ARE ALL AT RISK__DLS CAN EFFECT ANYONE ANYTIME!)

I like the sentiment, but a) there's no way that the neurosis in this thread is going to go down one iota until soft hold decisions are released, and b) I LOL'd at the bolded. You make DLS sound like a STI or the plague or something. Too funny.

I think for lots of people on this thread it is worse than many STIs. While lots of diseases are treatable, a Stanford rejection leaves a scar.

If people don't get calls today, I'm going to seriously start wondering if Stanford is going to accept any of their soft holds and just waitlist us all instead. There's no way they could start the soft hold acceptances on April 9th (on Monday). That would be later than any non-WL acceptances that have gone out in the past 5 years.

Unless of course there's some internal factor in the Admissions Office that we have no idea about (Is Dean Deal pregnant?)

I don't need or even really want to know about the pregnancy status, procreative potential, political persuasion, sexual orientation, race, or anything else about the people making the decision on my application. I just want the decision made fairly and expediently while they live their lives outside this process and I live mine.

After meeting and speaking with Dean Deal, and considering she has a child in College-- I would say she's closer to 50, if not older. SOOOOO pregnancy is definitely not in the picture. However, I do think that we will get some news today-- as flights to Preview Weekend are soaring.. Not like they care-- but I'm just sayin'
