Re: BU 2011 Applicants
Is there any point to trying to extend the deposit deadline. GW outright said no.

Hey it was nice finally meeting you today (I'm almost certain it was you). I was almost gonna ask you in person if you were Blindmelon since I picked up on a few things you said and they sounded familiar, but didn't wanna sound like that much of a loser. I was the guy in the short sleeve blue button down who talked to you for awhile.Blindmelon wrote:No idea, but the waitlist moves quite a bit. I tried looking all over online, and a little bit on this thread (but didn't feel like reading through 85 pages). Thanks!

Maybe it epends on the reason reason? I got my deadline extended a week as that's how long it'll take to know if I have a full scholly elsewhere.FiveSermon wrote:Is there any point to trying to extend the deposit deadline. GW outright said no.

Why so interesting? Presumably you knew about YP or is this your way of expressing how butthurt you arehoompa wrote:waitlisted... UR 3/14

P.S. You aren't the first poster to say "I didn't get into X school but I don't give a shit b/c i got into a much higher ranked school" as if that compensates for your inability to get into X school

Re: BU 2011 Applicants
Ok does anyone know how I send in my deposit. The $300 one due by April 15th.
Is there a form? Where do I send it to? My acceptance letter just said when it's due and no specifics. Google failed me also.
And does it have to be postmarked by the 15th? Or arrive there by then?

There should be a form and addressed envelope in your admission packet. If not then email BU and I'm sure they'll get you one. It just needs to be postmarked by the 15th.FiveSermon wrote:Ok does anyone know how I send in my deposit. The $300 one due by April 15th.

Is BU still admitting via phone call exclusively, or was that only for earlier in the cycle? I'm sorry, I browsed the last few pages of the thread and couldn't find the answer to my question.

Negotiated 10k more! 75k scholarship+10k housing stipend. If I don't end up in Cornell, this is my definite top choice.

Re: BU 2011 Applicants
I think BU really does put special importance on a "why BU?" personal statement....I don't know if this counts as an excuse, but I do think the fact the my app was pretty New York centric got me on WL, and I'm somewhat surprised I didn't get rejected.

Did they have a "Why BU?" question?patallica22 wrote:I think BU really does put special importance on a "why BU?" personal statement....I don't know if this counts as an excuse, but I do think the fact the my app was pretty New York centric got me on WL, and I'm somewhat surprised I didn't get rejected.
Regardless, I don't think I included any mention of school or region on my app

I doubt it. I didn't write a why BU essay.patallica22 wrote:I think BU really does put special importance on a "why BU?" personal statement....I don't know if this counts as an excuse, but I do think the fact the my app was pretty New York centric got me on WL, and I'm somewhat surprised I didn't get rejected.

Re: BU 2011 Applicants
They don't have a Why BU? mention at all in the app....I'm just basing this off of interviews I've read from the Dean of Admissions...I'll see if I can find a link.
I also applied in mid Feb, so that may have been more of a determinant, so take all of this with a grain of salt

I'm impressed. Might I ask your stats and how/what you used to negotiate more?FiveSermon wrote:Negotiated 10k more! 75k scholarship+10k housing stipend. If I don't end up in Cornell, this is my definite top choice.

Damn, I was hoping they'd tack an extra $10k to my $75k but they just sent me an email that they won't increase it. Oh well, at least they got back to me before I had to make a deposit.

Re: BU 2011 Applicants
FWIW I wrote a Why BU and I think it may helped a little, but the world will never know. I don't think it makes too much of a difference one way or the other.
Congrats, FS! I too was able to get BU to up my scholly, gotta love it!FiveSermon wrote:Negotiated 10k more! 75k scholarship+10k housing stipend. If I don't end up in Cornell, this is my definite top choice.
