Or they didn't ask because they knew that Georgetown asks you to send your resume to your interviewer. That's in the first email you get about alumni interviews.proteinshake wrote:alright cool, I felt like I was screwed.BirdLawExpert wrote:I sent my resume at the interviewers request. I agree that if the interviewer didn't ask, they probably don't care, but just to be safe he should attach it to a quick "looking forward to tomorrow's meeting" message anyway.

I was in the middle of an email exchange with my interviewer a few minutes ago so I attached it and mentioned it in one of them. thanks!RZ5646 wrote:Or they didn't ask because they knew that Georgetown asks you to send your resume to your interviewer. are the only answers I should have prepped for the alumni interview be for "why law?" and "why georgetown?"? it seems like those are the only questions that are consistently asked by interviewers.

My alumni interview was super conversational, and most of the questions I was asked came from my resume and followed from there. You don't need to prepare a ton, just have a good angle for "Why Law" and "Why Georgetown" and you'll be fine! I was asked a couple of standard interview questions as well, but I think the alumni choose the questions so it'll depend on who your interviewer is. Nothing too difficult, was able to come up with most of the answers on the spot. Good luck with your interview!proteinshake wrote:are the only answers I should have prepped for the alumni interview be for "why law?" and "why georgetown?"? it seems like those are the only questions that are consistently asked by interviewers.

Sorry if this was already discussed, but did anyone write a "Why Georgetown?" essay? How long was it and did you get accepted?

I just wrote one of their optional responses, which has a word limit, I believe. Admitted in December.Loney M. Setnick wrote:Sorry if this was already discussed, but did anyone write a "Why Georgetown?" essay? How long was it and did you get accepted?

Same. I pretty directly addressed "why georgetown" in my PS and picked a different optional response. I applied on 1/16, don't remember the exact date where I went complete, but it's been a while now. Should I be concerned that I haven't heard anything back about an interview at all? GPA b/w 25th and 50th, LSAT > 75th. Wrote one of their supplemental essays but didn't address Georgetown directly.

Guess I am the exception who wrote a why Georgetown and added it as a supplement. I got accepted within a month of applying, so it didn't hurt my application, but probably wasn't necessary.proteinshake wrote:I didn't write one and got an interview request after 2 weeks.coldmonkey13 wrote:The extent of my 'why georgetown' was about four sentences in my PS, did not write an optional statement. It probably matters more for those of us with borderline numbers. You guys clearly have great stats which means they probably didn't even read much of your PS and other material TBH.coldmonkey13 wrote:Yeah it seems like it doesn't matter much, I was accepted within two weeksjtg21 wrote:Guess I am the exception who wrote a why Georgetown and added it as a supplement. I want to pretend they read all the materials, since it took me a while to come up with my essays. But they definitely read the supplement because the personalized note they added to my acceptance letter referenced it.Navyhornguy wrote:It probably matters more for those of us with borderline numbers. +1. I don't think we should be too concerned though. I'm giving myself til the end of the month - if I don't hear by then, then I'll allow myself to get worried.WaitWaitDontSay wrote:Been wondering the same thing.periwinkley wrote:I applied on 1/16, don't remember the exact date where I went complete, but it's been a while now. 3.3/169, didn't do the optional essay. Got an alumni interview within like 3 weeks of applying, and admitted mid-December.Navyhornguy wrote:It probably matters more for those of us with borderline numbers. Send a thank you email to Dean Cornblatt post-group interview or no? I know people over in the Harvard thread give a hard no to thank you notes post-interview, but it feels weird not to.

I don't know why they're so weird about Post-Interview Thank You Notes over there, but I sent one to every person I interviewed with regardless of the school or whether they were alumni/admissions staff and they were all well received. I feel like a lot of people espousing the "no note" school of thought might be K-JD who haven't ever been involved in the hiring process anywhere. I know when I helped interview people for various jobs a thank you note was always an extra chance to be impressed by someone if it was timely, terse, and mentioned a specific aspect of our conversation in a way that doesn't feel like "Hey see! I remembered that thing, aren't I great?"anonymous117 wrote:Send a thank you email to Dean Cornblatt post-group interview or no? During my Georgetown interview the alumni interviewer told me a professor that he took who taught classes he thought I might like. When I went home I looked him up and realized he was the co-author of a book I cited in my thesis, so when I sent a thank-you note I briefly mentioned that and it ended up being included in part of what Dean Cornblatt wrote on my acceptance note. So I'm definitely on Team Thank You Note.

I'd say alumni should definitely get thank yous / follow ups, but admissions officers probably don't want them because interviewing is just a (big) part of their job and they don't need more spam.BirdLawExpert wrote:I don't know why they're so weird about post-interview thank you notes over there, but I sent one to every person I interviewed with regardless of the school or whether they were alumni/admissions staff and they were all well received. That's a fair take. Somebody in another thread tried to argue that any form of follow-up communication seemed desperate and that you should be confident enough to let the interview speak for itself, and that's something I definitely do not agree with.RZ5646 wrote:I'd say alumni should definitely get thank yous / follow ups, but admissions officers probably don't want them because interviewing is just a (big) part of their job and they don't need more spam.BirdLawExpert wrote:I don't know why they're so weird about post-interview thank you notes over there, but I sent one to every person I interviewed with regardless of the school or whether they were alumni/admissions staff and they were all well received.
