In all fairness to UVA...I have no doubt that UVA is potentially a top choice, but your options (and choices) are fairly transparent based on your numbers and the bolded and your options were definitely transparent to the adcomm (based on your numbers and application, I'd assume).texasellewoods wrote: I wrote a Why UVA and thought my interview went great, brought up my reasons for loving UVA again during that but apparently wasn't enoughWaiting to hear back from my top two schools still but will prob reach out to UVA after I have those decisions in hand.

Re: UVA c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
Applied in early Sept, been UR since Oct. I haven't been contacted at all. Would now be a good time to maybe send an updated resume and "Why UVA?" When I submitted in Sept, I wasn't aware of the importance of the essay, but was advised to wait before submitting one. I haven't been waitlisted, so is this a good idea? (I've read that you should not write a LOCI unless you've been WLed, JW if the same applied to essays/resumes etc...)

Hey everyone - for those who have done interviews or are more informed than me: what is UVA's interview process? Do they interview most candidates prior to an acceptance, and is this interview in person, on campus, over the phone, Skype, etc? Thanks

Re: UVA c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
According to theit website and my interviewer, they only interview "serious candidates." That being said, there are some that have gotten in without interviews but I'm pretty sure their numbers were stellar. The interview is either Skype or phone, you choose.badatlsat120 wrote:Hey everyone - for those who have done interviews or are more informed than me: what is UVA's interview process? Re: UVA c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
Quick question (and can apply to any school, not just UVA). I recently published a book (to be honest, self-published it on Amazon). It's a non-fiction work about Minneapolis. Since I just finished it recently, I didn't include it in my application at all - is it worth emailing schools to say I did? Will it matter at all, maybe for scholarship?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: UVA c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
You might want to add it to your resume, and then send the updated resume pointing out the additional accomplishment in the body of the email. I am not sure how much it will matter for scholarship but it is probably worth a try.mpellenberger wrote:Quick question (and can apply to any school, not just UVA). Late to this party but I'll definitely be at UVA too! The SO and I just booked our flight for ASW.hamiltoniana wrote:Is anybody else set on UVA for next year? I only saw a few other ED people on the spreadsheet, and most were anonymous. Also, does any one happen to have an ideal timeline in mind for arranging housing at places like Ivy Gardens and the Jeffersonian? And has any one heard from the school about anything beyond the initial acceptance and information packets?

I definitely think you should. UVA gives a little bit of preference to in state applicants, so if you're an OOS applicant they want to know that you are very interested in attending their school.frodo wrote:Scalvert wrote:Applied in early Sept, been UR since Oct. I submitted Why UVA with my app because I was already applying late, plus my stats are pretty low. I'm considering switching my app to ED at the end of the month... haven't decided yet.Scalvert wrote:Thanks! Has anyone done this? Yeah I would write a really short paragraph for the body of your email iterating your interest in UVA, expressing it is your top choice and you would attend if admitted (if you are truly that committed), and then attach the Why UVA? and updated resumé to your email.

Sounds like a good idea. My stats aren't great either. My gpa is median, but LSAT is between 25-50th,hopefuljumbo23 wrote:I submitted Why UVA with my app because I was already applying late, plus my stats are pretty low. Quick question - does the UVA status checker start at complete and then switch to under review? Or does it just start with under review? I submitted on 1/8 but it already says under review and the date listed is 1/8.

Mine started at complete when I submitted (on Christmas Day) and changed to under review when the school (presumably) opened after the holidays (1/4).hopefuljumbo23 wrote:Quick question - does the UVA status checker start at complete and then switch to under review? No downside. You should do that. Their admissions office is really friendly and I highly doubt a LOCI would move you to the bottom of the pile.

If I did not receive a scholarship offer with my admissions letter does that mean I'm not getting any?

Re: UVA c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
For those (if any) who applied Binding Expedited Decision - it says you will hear within 15 business days of your application going under review. Has anyone had experience with this, and familiar with the time frame? Do they really abide by the 15 business day self imposed limit, is it normally only a few, should I expect it on day 15? Not sure about my chances - above 75th % on LSAT but below 25th% in GPA.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
