What's sad is that I put it off for an hour because I have a shared Skype account for me and Mr. Grey - we only use it for video chatting our parents, and it has a goofy unprofessional username. I was going to create a new account but when I checked again the only slot that I could do was gone.

Re: Northwestern Law c/o 2018 Applicants
also signed up for hold interview here
really curious as to why NU admissions office would expend so much time for already held students
has anyone gotten accepted without interviewing?
i have 2 theories
1) students NU would have accepted had they interviewed were held and given another chance to interview
2) NU plans on accepting a bunch of folks from the hold pile and they want to make the best decision possible

idk it's pretty frustrating if held interviews are given significant weight since they're only offered via skype once a week, all during the workday. But I guess we still have the essays/LOCI, so not all is lost.

I really foolishly selected on my application that I did not want to interview. I was told my by pre-law advisor that interviews never help your application and can only hurt it...which I now realize is very false information, but it was what I was operating under at the time.still wrote:also signed up for hold interview here

My numbers are very competitive (although not stellar) and I ended up getting held. For this reason, I would very much like to believe in your theories--particularly the first.

Re: Northwestern Law c/o 2018 Applicants
No kidding. I wonder how much it hurt my cycle. I ended up getting waitlisted across the board at a really large range of schools, many of which my numbers suggested I would be in at (but not quite YP). Maybe I'm a little bitter, but it's a decision I made at every school, and one that I wish I could reverse.NoBladesNoBows wrote:I can't believe the outlandish shit that pre-law advisors have told people on this forum. What is the selection criteria for that job? Some low-level administrator wants a little paycheck bump and just says, "yea sure, I'll do it"???6778628 wrote:I really foolishly selected on my application that I did not want to interview. I was accepted without interviewing. I still haven't actually spoken to anyone at NU, other than by email.

I apologize for my ignorance since I'm sure this has been discussed in full, but could someone give me the tl;dr of a hold vs. waitlist and the implications of being held?

Placed on hold today. I was pretty nervous opening the letter and expected it to be my first reject. On hold isn't much better lol.

Does Northwestern use the hold category as YP often?
