The only thing about the chart that doesn't strike me as convincing is the GIANT LSAT swath from 171-180. Isn't the thought of YP that these candidates would look good for HYS? If that's the case, I think this may be more telling:capt_slow wrote:Where did you find this chart?cotiger wrote:Where is everyone getting this YP stuff from? Last year they accepted 29/31=94% of everyone who was above both 75ths. Also, each increase in quartile increased likelihood of acceptance.* I can't even see it for the super high people (i.e. 175+/3.9+), as they got 9/10=90%.
*The one exception was for below median LSAT going from 50-75 -> 75+ GPA. But that looks to be mostly a product of very small sample size, and I don't think LSATs of 168 and below are anyone's definition of YP anyway.
GPA 3.8 and above with LSAT 170-173 (sample size 587):

Same GPA with LSAT >173 (sample size 288):

It seems pretty clear that if you're looking good for Harvard or close to $100,000 from CCN, then Penn seems more likely to throw you on a waitlist. If your chances at HYS diminish and you're only getting around $50,000 from CCN, Penn seems more likely to say "come on out to Philadelphia, friend!"
ETA: I see this is my 199th post, and given that I have 9 applications pending and it's past mid-January, I will be saving number 200 for a decision post!
