Maybe by then, Chicago shower them with money to close the deal quickly. (Jan applicants can dream, can't they???)

Just noticed that I went UR yesterday (3/1) but didn't even go complete until 2/1. Is this quick turnaround (relative to everyone else applying to Chicago at least, lol) a good or bad thing? Stats in profile...

I think it's a good thing that you just jumped ahead in line.
They have to know they need to pick up the pace if they want to finish RD admits by mid-April. So maybe they've given up on reviewing everyone as they go complete and decided to start grabbing the best apps out of the pile and putting them on the fast track.
I think they'd be in more of a rush to accept people than to reject or WL people.

Has anyone gotten in, or just an interview even (or a Ruby, maybe), without having written a Why Chicago or have anything school-specific in their app?
Edit: k, from lsn, it seems it's not out of the realm of possibility for any of those.

I didn't write a "Why Chi" and there was absolutely nothing Chicago-specific in my application. During my interview, I made it clear why I was interested in attending Chicago specifically when presented with the opportunity. Worked out for me.

You and everyone else... if they don't UR our apps before May, do we get our money back?

IIRC Chicago didn't specifically provide the option for a why x so I didn't write one. I'm kinda surprised they don't though tbh since most people prefer CLS and NYU to Chicago; it seems like why x could be useful for them.

UR1 3/1. Complete late January. Looking at the #s of you other fine folks who went UR1 the same day, I have to admit I'm more hopeful about UChi than I was last week...

You know what would be helpful? You posting your numbers after you specifically mention looking at other peoples. Worm has a great rant about this, and this post swayed me to his opinion.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
