Re: BU 2011 Applicants
Just got my financial aid letter, after I had pretty much given up on getting $ from BU and was nearly positive I'd be going elsewhere. This changes things somewhat (20k/year).

Finally got the WL email after about 5 and a half months. Immediately withdrew. Good luck to everyone still waiting!

Re: BU 2011 Applicants
Also waitlisted today. 3.33/167. Fourth WL of the cycle, but it was my last decision awaiting (not including the waitlists that I'm on), so in some ways, I'm relieved that it's over. For now. But I'm worried about my chances if all these applicants with far better stats also got wait-listed!

Re: BU 2011 Applicants
Also, does anyone know if BU ranks their waitlist? I tried looking all over online, and a little bit on this thread (but didn't feel like reading through 85 pages). Thanks!

Man, with the stats of the recents WLs, my 164/3.8 has like NO chance of getting off it.

Re: BU 2011 Applicants
Sorry if this question has been asked before, but I was accepted fairly recently and today I got a financial aid award in the mail. I got the Alumni Scholarship for need-based but I didn't receive a merit scholarship. Do they send this information separately or should I just assume I didn't get any?
Thanks in advance.

The answer to your question is "maybe."coveyellow wrote:Sorry if this question has been asked before, but I was accepted fairly recently and today I got a financial aid award in the mail. "Our merit scholarships are awarded based on a student's admissions file and do not require a separate application. The decision to award a merit scholarship may be made at any time after a student has been admitted."

When do people think the WL will start moving? Has there been any movement already?

Re: BU 2011 Applicants
I have been wondering the same thing as well. I think early May. I looked at BU on Law School Numbers and clicked on the Applicants tab in previous years, sorted by status and scanned for applicants with the status "WL, accepted." Unfortunately last year there were no such applicants on LSN, only "WL, rejected." For the previous year, 08-09, there were 5 people who posted their status as "WL, accepted," but only one posted the date when he/she received notice and that date was 5/1/09. 07/08 year there were a few that reported the date they got off the waitlist as being sometime in May, and I saw that some comments also congratulated applicants on getting off the waitlist in May. Haha, I feel like a detective...I repeated this process for all the schools I got waitlisted at and it seems like the bulk of it happens in May, with a few in June and July. A girl I met at Hastings told me that they called her the day before orientation began to admit her off the waitlist, but I should hope those situations are rare!!ash8309 wrote:When do people think the WL will start moving? Seriously? What are you waiting for?
