Got alumni interview request today. Someone ITT said they tended to interview borderline applicants. Is it true? I'm above both 75ths, so I don't know if I should decline the interview. I already took off work/came in late a lot recently to do interview stuffs, so if I'm competitive w/o an interview, I'd prefer not doing it.

Obviously, I can't speak to whether or not it's true. I might believe it if borderline also includes the YP-Admit border. You're definitely more than competitive without an interview so the main worry is YP. Personally, I genuinely enjoyed my Georgetown interview and found it pretty helpful. If you're seriously considering Georgetown I'd try to make it work. Either way, good luck!

Just received my acceptance letter in the mail post marked 2/8! Incredibly shocked and excited!!!!!!! 161/3.86

My application was held earlier and I was told I'd hear back by February 26, so I definitely wasn't expecting a decision so soon! And...at best, I was expecting a waitlist.

how does admission to GULC compare to admission to Cornell? they pretty much have the same numbers, but is one, for some other reason, harder to get into than the other?

Cornell is a much smaller class - so that might affect how splitter-friendly (or "risk-averse") they are in their admissions...

fwiw - in at gulc (letter dated 9 days after complete) and got a ding from cornell.

I essentially said that my decision will be primarily based on where I can receive the most affordable education and then I go on to mention that their COA + COL will most likely surpass my other acceptances at UVA, Cornell, Berkeley, and UChicago. Do I need to say much else? Should I be attaching a Why GULC? Thanks!

I just responded in the body of the e-mail, without attachments (two or three paragraphs), echoing the COA point etc. I think what you have now would be fine.

I'm above 75ths and doing it for two reasons: first, I want to prevent YP by showing interest (even if we're already in at higher ranked schools, you should never foreclose scholarship opportunities), and, second, it's good practice for later interviews.

Anyone know the common questions asked? Do they follow guidelines from Georgetown or are the alumni given free rein?

I sent my resume at the interviewers request. If they wanted it, they'd ask.
