Obviously, I can't speak to whether or not it's true. I might believe it if borderline also includes the YP-Admit border. You're definitely more than competitive without an interview so the main worry is YP. Personally, I genuinely enjoyed my Georgetown interview and found it pretty helpful. If you're seriously considering Georgetown I'd try to make it work. Either way, good luck!strawberrieee wrote:Got alumni interview request today. Someone ITT said they tended to interview borderline applicants. Is it true? I'm above both 75ths, so I don't know if I should decline the interview. I already took off work/came in late a lot recently to do interview stuffs, so if I'm competitive w/o an interview, I'd prefer not doing it.

Just received my acceptance letter in the mail post marked 2/8! Incredibly shocked and excited!!!!!!! 161/3.86
My application was held earlier and I was told I'd hear back by February 26, so I definitely wasn't expecting a decision so soon! And...at best, I was expecting a waitlist.

Congrats regardless! I'm just curious. If not, I may have hope after all.

Do students admitted after being on the Preferred Waitlist stand any chance at getting money?

Anyone know if the name your price emails go out to all admitted students or just people who actually have a shot at money? Didn't receive one today, wondering if that means no $$.

Got invited to interview with an alumni today. Kinda meh since I'm above both 75s, but barely. I'm guessing if you don't do it you get waitlisted/dinged. Reading from past years it supposed to be pretty chill?

Yup, a nicely worded and long email telling me it's probably in my best interest to move on to another program. These guys must be great at breakups

oh yeah? What about this gem: (reapply) "Candidates who did not gain admission into the J.D. Program may choose to reapply for admission in a later year. Although it is highly likely that an applicant will receive the same decision in a subsequent year..."TxEx13 wrote:tezzeret wrote:Did you find out via email?TxEx13 wrote:Waitlisted today.

how does admission to GULC compare to admission to Cornell? they pretty much have the same numbers, but is one, for some other reason, harder to get into than the other?

Cornell is a much smaller class - so that might affect how splitter-friendly (or "risk-averse") they are in their admissions...proteinshake wrote:how does admission to GULC compare to admission to Cornell? they pretty much have the same numbers, but is one, for some other reason, harder to get into than the other?

"Meanwhile, please update us on any approaching deadlines you may be facing." preferred waitlist. Am I reading into this too much, or does this sound slightly promising (or something that would maybe speed up a firm decision?)

Re: Georgetown C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
To those who have already responded to the scholarship email, how long was your reply? I am still struggling with how to format my response and I am worried that my current draft is too short? I essentially said that my decision will be primarily based on where I can receive the most affordable education and then I go on to mention that their COA + COL will most likely surpass my other acceptances at UVA, Cornell, Berkeley, and UChicago. Do I need to say much else? Should I be attaching a Why GULC? Thanks!

I just responded in the body of the e-mail, without attachments (two or three paragraphs), echoing the COA point etc. I think what you have now would be fine.skimmilk wrote:To those who have already responded to the scholarship email, how long was your reply? Re: Georgetown C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I'm above 75ths and doing it for two reasons: first, I want to prevent YP by showing interest (even if we're already in at higher ranked schools, you should never foreclose scholarship opportunities), and, second, it's good practice for later interviews.strawberrieee wrote:Got alumni interview request today. Anyone know the common questions asked? Do they follow guidelines from Georgetown or are the alumni given free rein?

did everyone here send a copy of their resume and personal statement to their interviewer before interviewing? mine is tomorrow and I realized that probably would have been a good idea, but idk if it's "required."
