Finally got my University to lift the hold on my transcript, and got them to send it to my college to be sent to LSAC. My college returned it to them because they didn't have my name on file, despite the fact that I emailed them and asked them to look out for it.

Guess this gives me some extra time for my personal statement..
Your tar seems to sum up how you feel.
What about yours, TZ?
Well I can't decide if I am Beyonce or JT. SO I guess the jury is still out, as it were.

You mean the spreadsheet in the MEDIANS THREAD? I mean it would have been easier to just go there.

After evaluating this semester I have realized that my GPA will have another .7 added to it (from 3.7-3.77). This will put me at the median for a lot of schools and Im wondering if anyone here has any idea with how they factor this into admission decisions. Will they care? Or am I just wasting my time grinding for A+'s

Do schools consider your GPA in making admissions decisions and is a higher GPA preferable?
Umm...that's a tough question. :|

I guess I didn't explain exactly what I was asking. Im thinking of a situation where you've been denied BEFORE fall grades come out. If you have already been denied do schools consider ur new gpa. Sorry

Pretty sure a denial is final for the cycle.
If they denied you with a 3.7, it's safe to say that there were other problems with your application.
Quickly send your new transcript to LSAC and amend your applications as soon as fall grades are posted.

Denials normally roll out in spring anyways, so don't sweat it.

Wondering if anyone in here has had a similar cycle to what I'm dealing with right now...
My fiance is applying to medical residency at the same time that I'm applying to LS. We really have no idea where we will end up living next year--his acceptance into a program overrides mine so I have applications ready to send out to a 1) reach 2) target 3) safety school in each market that he's applying to. This is crazy, I know, but I really don't want to have to wait another year. I've been PTing around 166-169 and have a 3.6 GPA from UG and grad programs. Thoughts anybody?

If your husband gets into a school in Los Angeles (just throwing a random example), it wouldn't hurt to write an email to UCLA/USC explaining why you have a strong preference there. It helps let them know for YP purposes and is a great motivating factor behind a "why X" essay.

Thanks for the reply, and I will probably try to do something similar to that. The trouble is that he won't find out where he matches until March at the earliest... And since my last post here, I've done some digging around on this site and realized it probably isn't worth my/our while to even go to law school if I don't get into a top 20 or so with $$$ anyway--probably better off continuing to work at my $50k-ish job while he is in residency and avoid the massive debt or bad job prospects. Just venting my thoughts. Hope everyone enjoys the rest of Sunday!

I'm glad you've been doing your research.
You don't need to give up on law entirely, but maybe it would be best to wait until you have a bit more certainty in where you'll end up.
TLS is always here if you have any further vents, questions, or concerns. Goodluck!

Is applying next cycle an option for you? You could even consider retaking.

Definitely an option, but not ideal, of course (and I already asked the president of my company for a letter of rec, so they know I'm planning to leave in the spring) We'll see how the Dec LSAT goes...but since I already have my apps locked and loaded, I'm up for anything. ! Ten years ago this would have all been so simple, lol !

LOR question: I plan to submit the letter from my professional recommender only to some schools. However, I have one or two schools to which I'm not entirely sure I can apply. When I add said recommender to CAS, I have to list schools; does that mean that I won't be able to add any at a later date?

As far as I know, you don't HAVE to list schools. That field is for your reference anyway. So you can put whatever you want.

ETA: Once you get them in the system you assign them to particular schools. And you can change the assignments up until you submit applications.

You dont have to list schools. That field is just a reminder to you about the contents of that letter/who you intend it for. Schools won't be able to see what you put.

Ahhhh thank you. I suspected, but, nervous about making some silly mistake.

Another question: Does anyone know if the order that we put our evaluators in, is the order that the schools receive them (L1, L2, L3)? Obviously I'd prefer to have my two professor recs on top of my professional, but I'm still waiting on confirmation from my undergraduate professor (yeah, I know, I think it's time I ask someone else, too).
