The Tweet said "came back early," which would seem not auto-ey.jettison63 wrote:lawlorbust wrote:we know that last night's acceptances were from FR, rather than asha admits.Nelu wrote:I'm not sure how worthwhile it is to speculate about the behind-the-scenes process, but I find the sequencing of this notification process interesting. The expectation (based on last year) I believe (and correct me if I'm wrong) is that the rejections would come out yesterday and today, followed by waitlists/acceptances from Wednesday to Friday (?). If the tweet from last night though indicates that it is just a matter of waiting for the faculty review (because it looks as though the admissions office generously/mercifully tries to notify applicants ASAP), then I wonder what accounts for some of the rejections going out on Monday and others on Tuesday (because presumably if the office were just waiting to receive faculty review decisions, it would be doling out acceptances and rejections on Tuesday as well).
my guess is that the monday dings were a mix of autodings, fully completed FRs, and partially completed FRs (files that received either a '2' or two '3's). my conjecture for the last group is that the admissions order doesn't need to wait on the last review for those with a maximum score of 10, while those who might hit 11 (or possibly 12) are held until complete decisions are in and they can be ordered into acceptances v. waitlist.
How do we know that yesterday wasn't any auto-admits?
Just curious. I wouldn't be one of them anyway.

Re: Yale c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
so if you've submitted in November and haven't heard back since, your file is one of these?
(1) in faculty review and they're getting to your file later
(2) in faculty review, reviewed, but not good enough to admit until all the apps are in:
in this case, you will be:
(a) waitlisted
(b) rejected
(c) accepted
The only sure thing is that your app is in faculty review?

while the summary I just wrote is banal, you're agreeing, wtrc?wtrc wrote:sonyvaio18 wrote:so if you've submitted in November and haven't heard back since, your file is one of these?

I have quality information from a trusted source that all of us will either be rejected, waitlisted, or accepted.

Seriously, though, if you submitted in November and you've heard nothing, the fact that you survived the dings would make me think perhaps you're headed to the tiny WL pile? Idk, I'm in the same situation with Stanford.sonyvaio18 wrote:haha good points. i guess ultimately the summary doesn't tell you anything...

To quell your anxieties, I have it on good (read: personal) authority that you were not the last to go complete. Super lurker, but thought you deserved to feel a bit betterjettison63 wrote:In the spirit of attempting to calm our anxieties/migraines/fears/etc, I was probably the last person to go complete at Yale. I did not receive my complete email till 3/13. SO if I'd been an auto-ding, I probably would have gotten an email yesterday, no? This is not to say anything about what will actually happen, but would there be a reason that I'd have been an auto-ding and not heard that yesterday?

On my lunch break now.
If a ding is coming I just want to be prepared and know dings are coming out. I don't want to just be casually checking my email and have it pop up.
