Me too! Oh wait, nevermind...that was SEPTEMBER 28th, 2013!
Damn... and I was about to complain about my 12/27.
Challenge accepted. I got my status checker on September 25th, 2013.
Just curious, has anyone who has been waiting 10+ weeks written a LOCI?

I haven't, though I think I'll try just that and see what happens. Prediction: COMPLETE.

Yeah I'm in the same boat, just keep hoping they'll reject me (or preferably accept me haha) before I start writing it...

Accepted via status checker -

"Congratulations! You're in! Because we're wowed by flash drives and yellow portfolios and personalized notes, we are sending you a large envelope with a formal acceptance letter and lots of information about Michigan Law. But because we are wowed by YOU, we didn't want to make you wait to find out."

Maybe a silly question, but if I apply for need-based aid, will that be added on top of any merit scholarship? Or will they count the previously awarded merit money against any NB money?

Dunno about Michigan specifically, but some schools have a merit-aid cap for which you are no longer available for need-based. For example, GWU's is 16k/year.

I think they supposedly (not sure if it always holds up in practice) have something like this. My merit award letter indicated that I was still eligible for need-based aid, while I've read posts by others who indicated theirs stated that the size of the offer would eliminate them from need-based consideration.

That's what I figured. Thanks for confirming.

EDIT: Probably in poor taste to whine about scholarships while people are agonizing over waiting for a decision. My bad.

You realize that unless you have a family or URM status (and even then), need-based aid in law school means loans, which everyone is eligible for. Perhaps if you have a ton of existing debt, you can get a bit knocked off, but don't count on it. You're presumed to be an adult, and most people do not have substantial assets.

It also includes need-based grants, which some (myself included, non-URM) have been offered and to which UM and GWU's policies are referring.

Median LSAT and > 75th GPA...but anticipating a WL because of no Why Michigan. How important is the why essay?

WL just now.

Went complete 3 weeks ago. LSAT above 75th, GPA between 25th/50th. Out of state, no "Why Mich?"

Probably will get to drafting a LOCI/Why Mich soon.

Between this and all the holds at Columbia, I don't know WHAT is going on anymore with this cycle. I'm not surprised with my numbers, but your numbers should definitely get you admitted to Michigan....
