I think this is a part of Chicago's plan... they also have one of the last ASW's.

I have a feeling that I'm going to fall in love with every school I visit right after I visit, so it will then be my top choice. It follows that if I visit Chicago last, Chicago will be my top choice at the time that I need to submit deposits. I'd imagine I'm not the only one who is this way.

However, at the rate they're going, they won't admit students in time to book flights for ASW

(I actually hope I can be more rational in my decision making than this. I'm kind of already in love with UChicago, anyway, so ASW's probably won't make much of a difference.)

I'm fairly confident that they'll do one or two more interview rounds with Dec/ early Jan applicants, and that the rest of applicants will be decided just by the paper application. Otherwise, they won't have their initial admits done by ASW.

For those that received the interview invite, how does that all go down? After giving them our Skype name and picking a time slot, will they eventually add us on skype or do we just sit there around the time the interview should go down and randomly wait for Skype to go off?

They added then immediately Skype-called me one minute after the scheduled interview time.

Man, I'm kinda nervous... I can only imagine just sitting there waiting for something to pop up, get added, and then BAM right into it..

Well you have to accept the call, so it gives you a few seconds.

Lol, I've never been to Chicago so I wouldn't know. But if this is true, then this is possibly the worst strategy Chicago could have come up with.

ETA: Unless they're pushing it so far precisely so that they accept a lot of people only after ASW is already over!

He said this wouldn’t happen at NYU — there are more distractions.

This visiting professor from NYU was literally incredulous at how lame Chicago students are.

Had my interview. It had a lot more questions than the harvard interview, but still it only lasted 16 minutes. I probably answered too briefly and talked too fast. Almost all questions were previously mentioned here, but I stumbled a bit when she veered off course and asked a followup question. I think I babbled something and stuttered a lot. Yikes. PM if you are interested in any details.

Status checker question:

I was complete 11/1, UR 1/3, interview invite late Jan, interview 2/18, UR 2/18, UR 2/21

From what I've read, people tend to get UR updates the day of their interview and shortly after, then finally the day of/before decisions. If the next batch is going out on March 8ish, I shouldn't expect an UR update until then, right?

Basically I'm just asking if it's pointless to keep checking my status checker on a daily basis if it's nearly certain that it won't change for two more weeks.

So I was looking at the Interview/Accept spreadsheet, out of 58 people who were interviewed and had already had a decision, only 6 were WL. All others were accept. Could the acceptance rate be really that high? I'm guessing those who didn't receive acceptances were probably much less interested in filling out the survey.

I've been playing back the interview in my head all morning. And the more I think about it, the more I feel bad about it. Ugh...

Had my interview earlier today. I think it went well, and I think Regulus' thread really helped with preparing for it.

I know a lot of people said that she seemed detached but I thought Dean Perry was engaged and very back-and-forth with me. I got maybe 7 questions and all of them were included on the Regulus thread. I'll be happy to answer any other questions through PM.
