write a why duke/send a loci; they're practically the same thing, but definitely do it! The application process is full of incomplete information, and Duke has to make a guess about how serious a person is about Duke every single time they review a file. If you know you want to attend Duke, tell them so they can take it into account! It can only help you.

I think it depends on how much Duke is a reach for you (if it is at all) and how badly you want the school. For me, I liked Berkeley so much and figured I'd have <30% shot at it that I basically wrote a binding statement in my PS.
Only offer to bind yourself to them if you're 100% sure you'd attend at full sticker tuition. OTOH if you're in the 'strong consider' category on LSP I don't think it's wise since you have a shot at $$$.

At least you're UR. I have been ready for review since 1/04.

Under review since 10/19 as well. I think my stats put me at weak consider-consider, so it's not completely surprising. I'm just pulling for a Duke/Berkeley/Knock-on-wood-pray-to-god-would-strangle-a-puppy-if-necessary Stanford.

I'm somewhere around 3.5 with a 169. It's borderline.
I haven't heard back from Berkeley either, but I'm pretty sure that will be a ding. Duke was my top choice from the beginning, but I was hoping to possibly see someone else around the T14 bite with a tad of money. That didn't come through, so I think I'll be sending the LOCI.

Try 12/04. And I know that there are people still waiting RFR longer than me. (though it seems like they're finally getting into the non-PT December submitters).

They are. I'm a 12/1 that went UR yesterday. Perhaps you're only a few days behind?

When do people on priority reserve start hearing? Or is it pretty much a waitlist (i.e. we shouldn't expect to hear until like May-August)? I was put on priority reserve sometime in October. I was a PT applicant.

So, any folks whose PT timer was up this weekend hear anything back today? Any RD movement today, be it going under review or decision rendered?

After much deliberation, sent in my Binding PT ED form today for the JD/MA English program. I applied on 1/22. I'm marginal numbers wise (166/3.75), but I'm hoping my WE, as well as my DS and Addendums help me out. I realized that there are only three schools I'd pay sticker for (even if I had a 180), and those would be Cornell, Duke, and Stanford. I have no shot at all for Stanford, and Cornell's apps are WAY up, so I'm actually pretty excited/nervous now.
In my heart, though, I could never root for Dook in basketball.

It's still possible to ED at Duke? I think I'm just confused.

Yeah. After the December LSAT, they sent some people a non-binding PT option, but others a binding PT ED. Mine was the latter.

I sent in the Financial Aid papers way back in October. Does anyone know when they start to give Financial Aid Decisions?

I am not sure. I send FAFSA a few weeks ago, but on their form for Merit Aid, it asks you the financial information if you want Need-Based Aid

It seems like you made a wise choice...and don't worry about not rooting for them in basketball; I went to Carolina undergrad, and I still like Duke law

Their website says nothing about filling out a FAFSA to get scholarships. Last year the first scholarship decision was released around mid Feb.

I finally moved to Under Review 1/26, after being RFR since 12/4. Looks like they are going through the applications in the order they were submitted. Crossing fingers!
Duke notifies applicants of the decision via email, correct?
EDIT: Just to clarify, I applied RD.
