Looks like the waitlist won't move much. Makes sense with the references we've seen to scholarships for next year.

Good afternoon from Charlottesville. I write this afternoon to provide a waitlist update.

After assessing the situation following the first deposit deadline on April 21, we do not anticipate dipping too deeply into the waitlist pool during the next few weeks — if at all. We will continue to monitor those who have paid first deposits and will reevaluate on an ongoing basis.

Please do feel free to stay in touch with our office to keep us apprised of your continued interest. It is helpful to know who on our waitlist would still like to remain under consideration and who has made solid plans they do not have a desire to change. Do not hold back either piece of information when you feel it necessary to share.

Two matters to note:

1. It is most helpful to be in contact with our office to express either continued interest or a desire to withdraw from the waitlist via email (lawadmit@virginia.edu) rather than by phone. Materials and notes we receive electronically are uploaded into your file for future reference.

2. This is not a period of the admissions season when additional letters of recommendation are helpful. To be blunt, they just don’t move the needle this late in the race.

Thank you for your attention and for your patience throughout this process — it is much appreciated.

I called and they said their class is almost full. It's a good news for them but bad news for waitlisted applicants.

Please do also note, though, this is a dynamic process. We monitor our needs on an ongoing basis. For those who have informed us of your continued interest, we thank you. We have included that information in your file. If there does come a time when we do make the decision to extend a few offers from the waitlist, that information will be helpful.

Different dean last year, so idk how telling that is, although they promoted internally. I doubt they admitted anyone since (A) we probably would have seen a trace of it on TLS somewhere, (B) the email didn't indicate that there is or would be much activity, and (C) they're clearly filled to the gills.

I got an email update this morning that said they don't expect movement in next several DAYS....thought it was interesting the word "days" was used, so perhaps there will be weekly updates. I think that's a smart communications strategy.

i'll also share with anyone interested I had a direct in-person conversation with Dean Faulk (great guy and I mean that) a few weeks back when I was in DC visiting a friend and went to Cville to visit that they are absolutely tapped out of $$$ and it is for all intents and purposes a certainty that anyone who is lucky enough to get in off the WL can expect no scholly $$ from UVA. This is consistent with what others have reported, but I am here to say I heard it said to my face by the head of admissions. I don't have any additional intel from a WL perspective than the emails already state.
