I'm pretty sure status changes to "decision made: watch for email" or something along those lines.

Generally 2 URs, but that doesn't necessarily mean your decision is coming soon unfortunately. (I myself have been UR2 for a week, some people have been UR2 longer).

For the loci, are you guys writing a full out essay/letter or just a quick email stating your intentions to still want to attend Duke?

Imho, the more detailed about why you would specifically like to attend Duke, the better. A general email that could be sent to any school may not be convincing. Also, I found this interview with Dean Hoye to be helpful in making my case to be admitted off PR:

Oops, that interview is useful, but I confused it with a podcast he participated in about how to get off the waitlist (which I applied to PR). Here are the key quotes from Dean Hoye:

The process of applying to law school is, in my view, an advocacy challenge. So part of what we’re looking for is whether one can, in a concise, clear, and compelling manner, present information that persuades us that they merit admission to the law school.

A well-written letter gets our attention, and so I would encourage one not to just shoot off of a quick, breezy e-mail but rather think about how you want to construct that message. It should be written in a business format and written very capably.

Perhaps if you've already sent a formal LOCI, an email could be acceptable... still, I'd do another letter that makes a different argument about why you're a good match. Good luck to those on PR who really want to attend Duke... I was in your shoes & I'm rooting for you!

Thanks for the info about the loci! My dilemma is that I have not been PRed yet. I'm still ur 2-18 with no movement and applied for the summer program that starts in may. It's been said you should not send a LOCI if you have not be wait listed unless you have heard anything for three months or longer. I don't want to give more information that was not solicited. Thanks!

^^sure, why not? Law firms do it all of the time. They send an electronic copy with the original signed version to follow. (The e-mail attachment arrives immediately.)

And Dean Hoye's comments were perfectly clear: hard to misinterpret his guidance.

Apologies for my misdirected response, Bluj. I think the same advice applies in your situation, and I agree with Big Dog's advice. In regard to giving unsolicited info, the top of Duke's status checker says If you would like to submit additional/updated material, feel free to do so by email or U.S. postal mail. Can't hurt you to rally now, and it could get their attention.

Received a massive envelope in the mail from Duke yesterday. It included individual brochures highlighting private practice, clerkships, public interest, clinics, journals, etc. Pretty cool and good info.

I agree, I have gotten actual useful info from them since being admitted. I liked the email from a professor in the practice area I expressed interest in.

just make sure that your letter conveys what you bring to the table, i.e., what you have to offer Duke, it's students and faculty. (Too many LOCI's talk too much about why a school is a good fit for the applicant, but not the reverse.)

The letter probably just hasn't arrived yet. Give it a few more days. I'm sure if they weren't giving any $, they would still inform you.

Okay, thanks. It's just very bizarre since all the other duke admit packages and information arrived in 3 days and its now been more than twice that. if its lost in the mail, it would be nice to have a new one sent sooner rather than later.

My decision was mailed 3/15. I received it today... I'm in Texas.
Maybe if nothing by Monday's mail drop, politely inquire with office of financial aid?

For those tracking turnaround time, my scholarship form was received 2/22.
