I am going to one of the two. Secretly I want UCLA more, but they didn't give me $$; i did get a $20,000 grant for next year, though.Redsgomarchingon wrote:with a 75 or 90K offer, I would say 90% sure. Re: UCLA? 2011
yea I only got need-based aid. If USC doesn't offer much I'll probably go to W&M or GULC. If USC offers a good amount and UCLA doesn't make a good response offer I'll probably go to USC. Buuuuut, I'd prefer UCLAglitter178 wrote:

Just got my financial aid package from UCLA. No need-based aid awarded (not unexpected). Hopefully they'll be willing to negotiate my merit aid higher in light of my Vandy scholarship.

I honestly do not understand how schools think we can afford them. I do not wish to be broke until I'm 55 years old. Maybe I'm not cut out for law school

You're awfully antsy about a mere quarter of a million dollars in debt. Just do it you sissy.hipstermafia wrote:Be happy it's not 73!santoinettea wrote:Ditto. 55.5K... I just got really nauseated.hipstermafia wrote:Just got my financial aid 'award' of 73k in loans. Le sigh.

Back in the day, it would've been okay to take on that kind of debt... I think law schools are hoping we don't realize how times / job prospects have changed haha.hipstermafia wrote:Be happy it's not 73!santoinettea wrote:Ditto. 55.5K... BUT on a slightly more optimistic note, the Federal Reserve is printing so much money that our loans will be worth about 3/4 what their worth now by the time we're paying them back. Meh, still scary haha.
Really though: I've also been asking myself if law school is worth it lately. I keep coming back to "yes, it is" because this is really what I want to do. Nonetheless, it would have been nice to go to law school a few years back when we would've gotten wined and dined by firms upon graduation...

it is a bit of a reality check to see it in black and white. I wish all schools were as quick about financial aid as UCLA, though. They're the only school where I know exactly where I stand financially.

Seriously. Even with their generous need based grant, I'm looking at $150k over three years. Why would anyone want to do that?sarahlawg wrote:it is a bit of a reality check to see it in black and white. I wish all schools were as quick about financial aid as UCLA, though. Re: UCLA? 2011
Ugh, so frustrated with UCLA! First they don't give me any merit aid at all, and now I get a 73k/year "offer"? That's pretty much the final straw...I'm withdrawing right now. I really want to be in the West/California, but UCLA is just not financially feasible for me, especially considering the good offer I got from UTexas. Here's hoping USC gives me a nice amount of money!
Good luck to everyone else considering UCLA! Hopefully people have better luck with their financial aid than I did...

Re: UCLA? 2011
I spent this whole week reconsidering law school because of the cost/debt burden (already have a lot of educational debt).
$58K in loans, $0 need based aid from UCLA...not helping!

Considering the recent inaction, anyone think we'll get a big wave this week? What are some of the complete dates still floating around?
