It'll be really funny when I get rejected this week after fiercely defending them on here. If waitlisted, I will send the link to this discussion in my LOCI.

So out of a class of 300 that's 15-18 people.goldenbear2020 wrote:Biglaw/fedclerk dropped from 62% to 56% while 9 of the T13 went up or stayed the same.LHS17 wrote:For what it's worth, their view book highlights they have been top 10 for ten consecutive years. A decade ago, it was #4 after HYS.criley01 wrote:Re-freakin-tweet. The school itself places less of a premium on LSAT in favor of GPA (so I think criticisms of their low median are sketchy). Plus some (obviously not all) students who go there might be inclined to eschew BigLaw despite being well-qualified in favor of PI/Gov workchandhi wrote:This might be controversial, but here are my thoughts (as someone who has not heard back yet but is in love with Berkeley):
Berkeley is not a school you pick based on rankings. If that's why you go there, you probably should have chosen somewhere else.
Query whether the grading system gets revisited (I believe they preceded HYS so maybe not).

Been there done that lol. Defended various schools only to get the ding/WL email. But you seem very into UC Berkeley and so I wish you the best of luck!chandhi wrote:It'll be really funny when I get rejected this week after fiercely defending them on here. But yeah GL chandhi. I hope you get in with good money.
But your stats are fierce so I expect you'll have amazing offers elsewhere too.

Yeah, this happened the day before last year's ASW and then the scholarship offers were all messed up, so a lot of people wound up not committing who otherwise might have. My guess is this had a lot to do with it - being at ASW the next day was WEIRD.bestwishes wrote:The small drop in rankings is likely due to the scandal with Former Dean Choudhry. That incident probably harmed others' view of Berkeley. My bet is that in a year or three, it'll return safely back to the top 10.

Wait, where are you guys seeing that the ranking dropped? I'm looking at this and it doesn't show Berkeley at #12... Am I missing something?

I imagine a lot of that is how historically stingy they are with scholly money. I mean UVA has a 31% yield rate...proteinshake wrote:I feel like if Berkeley admitted based on numbers, they'd have an incredibly low yield rate. I think they know a bunch of people probably apply with the intention of going to the east coast anyway.

I've also been UR since 2/6 so I called the admissions office yesterday. They told me that they originally intended on getting all the admissions decisions out by the end of February, but their plans got delayed. They said it'll probably be out in a couple days. I really hope it's today though!!!!

I truly hope so. Kinda sad that I didn't hear back sooner, because there is no chance I can attend ASW now, if admittedcys0823 wrote:I know... I'm still waiting :// hopefully it'll be this week?chandhi wrote:Is this still happening? Getting super antsy!cys0823 wrote:

Re: UC Berkeley School of Law C/O 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Between the Berkeley 2/6+ purgatory with no-FR and being on Duke non-PT, the wait is definitely taking a toll! I think it is less about the actual wait time and more about the perception of being in the minority waiting for a decision (which is a different vibe than some schools I'm still waiting on). Also, as we get deeper into the cycle it seems that figuring out things like $$ and visiting schools gets trickier. I still don't understand how this non-FR works and wish I'd applied even a few days sooner. Sending positive vibes to all those still waiting!chandhi wrote:I truly hope so. The first $$$ wave came out shortly after FR2 decisions, so I'm thinking they're trying to push out the last acceptances of the cycle before getting to a second $$$ wave.
