Can someone let me know what email address the reserve and hold and acceptance letters come from? Just so I can make sure I've received messages from them before.

Re: Columbia c/o 2020 applicants (2016-2017)
3.6x/168. Placed on hold.
Already included a "why Columbia" letter including how my specific background fit in with centers/professors there. Also stated that it was my top choice, which is true.
Any advice about what else I can do? Just reiterate that same interest in a LOCI? I didn't see anything about submitting additional letters of recommendation, but I could try to get a second, new, letter from the same professor (a Columbia alumni) who has written one already if that's something that turns out to be allowed?

Take a deep breath. I interviewed in early November, GPA and LSAT both >75, and I haven't heard anything, either.Keilz wrote:Can someone let me know what email address the reserve and hold and acceptance letters come from? Just so I can make sure I've received messages from them before.

My acceptance letter came from admit@law.columbia.eduKeilz wrote:Can someone let me know what email address the reserve and hold and acceptance letters come from? Just so I can make sure I've received messages from them before.
ETA and had "Columbia Law School" as the subject line. Subject just showed up as "Admit" and it honestly looked fake at first.

Also got placed on Hold, timestamped 1:11 pm.
I submitted mid-Nov. and haven't been invited to interview. Has anyone else on hold not interviewed? I already wrote a solid Why Columbia so maybe that's why they didn't interview but wondering what else I can do at this point.

Went complete at the beginning of the year. Not invited to interview. Did not write a "why CLS," mostly because I'm below LSAT median.

Does Columbia give out other merit aid besides hammers/butlers? Or if you didn't get one when accepted it's safe to assume you can only hope for financial need based aid?

Better than WL right? Did you write a Why CLS? Its been over 2 months since ive applied and im worried a why cls at this point might be too late.eck456 wrote:held. same as last year. almost the same date. good to know that a year later they're not sure

In the exact same position! The lack of an interview request was freaking me out, but I just got placed on hold and already poured my heart out in my why x essayChristinabruin wrote:Also got placed on Hold, timestamped 1:11 pm.

Re: Columbia c/o 2020 applicants (2016-2017)
What I have gathered from past threads is that they will give you a bundled aid package including both merit and need after filling out the financial info, and then you can potentially negotiate that up (though it seems like CLS often declined to do so).canafsa wrote:Does Columbia negotiate scholarships if they decline to award the hammy or butler? Re: Columbia c/o 2020 applicants (2016-2017)
Someone earlier said that they only negotiate in response to offers from other T6 (apparently they were very reluctant to consider an offer from Penn). I bet you would have more luck leveraging your Stanford acceptance for $ at CLS. Apparently an H acceptance is a good chip to have toocanafsa wrote:Does Columbia negotiate scholarships if they decline to award the hammy or butler? I just received an email "It is for this reason that I am writing to encourage you to submit your financial aid application materials for consideration as soon as possible, especially if 1) you are unsure about your eligibility for need-based grants and/or 2) you have been awarded disparate awards by various other law schools."canafsa wrote:Does Columbia negotiate scholarships if they decline to award the hammy or butler? I'm just really confused if I'm not being included in these WL and Hold waves and everything w my app has been done for so long why they don't just go ahead and tell me if it's an acceptance or rejection...
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
