I'm at the top uni in Canada, I called 8 of the t-14 schools and postured the same profile one from my school and another from a lower-ranked school.

My school: "One hundred percent apply, we love McGill, applicants typically do extremely well here, we'd love to have you."
Other school: "Well, you know, I'd say you should probably apply, anything can happen."

Same stats, same CV, same (crummy) GPA, completely different reactions.
Okay...so did you get acceptances at those 8 versus this imaginary person with same exact stats?
Also, the bolded...
Also, schools say they average lsat scores.

I got an email from Columbia encouraging me to apply *because they love my UG*. I go to a top 20 public and have 3.0/163. What they told you likely means nothing about your chances.

There's also a thing on your academic summary report that is generated by LSAC that places you in a certain percentage within your own university. From what I've read, schools care more about that percentage than the rank of your school (they do this for both LSAT and GPA--it only includes those who have applied to law school from your UG though). Because, honestly, what adcom will be intricately familiar with the hundreds and hundreds of UG schools out there? They already have enough on their plate, lol.

Yeah I think the class rank generated by LSAC is the same thing for them as evaluating schools differently. I may have a low GPA but be a high rank for the class, making someone's stats almost a crapshoot depending on their UG institution.. Main point is that not all 4.0s are created equally.
But all 4.0s are reported the same.

I just got in! Splitter and had my interview back in October (UR since early November), so I had given up hope.

I don't go to U of T but I mean technically U of T is the best school in Canada if you go by rankings. Especially with graduate schools. I also don't believe in grade deflation at U of T or McGill but yeah that is a huge disadvantage for you that McGill doesnt have A+s

Just got the email. In! Is it proper etiquette to email back and say thank you, or is that stupid?

Going by QS, McGill is 24 global and UofT is 34. In terms of deflation, absolutely a thing. I'd have a substantially higher GPA at a different school. I've had a prof refuse to raise a grade because she had "already given out her 12 allotted A- grades" and wasn't willing to bend. I can send you the grade curve for McGill if you'd like, there is literally a fat zero next to graduates with 4.0.
I had thought I had read an article talking about UofT eclipsing McGill due to perpetual lack of funding with all the quebec tuition stuff going on. Maybe you're right though.

I wouldn't say it's stupid, but I wouldn't say it's proper (normal/necessary). You could if you wanted, I'm sure.

Still UR1, had interview last week, above both 75ths. Does this mean a YP? Seems like most people are hearing back at the end of the phone call or really quickly afterwards if they're accepted.

It took me over a month and a half to hear back today, and my stats are definitely below you. I wouldn't assume anything until you get the result.

I heard back from the dean the day after my interview with her. (Also, love your username!) She actually emailed me twice to let me know I got in.

Kind of a bummer but resigned to my fate of WL I guess... Anyone else still on UR1 and not seen any movement?
Still on this struggle bus as well. I went UR a week after you, over 75th GPA but 25th LSAT. Hopefully we'll get some movement before Christmas

edit to account for my inability to type given that it's finals week

I've been UR1 since 11/24 with no movement as well. I'm a reverse splitter (3.93,164)
