I haven't gotten the actual letter yet...is the amount displayed under Mail & Money per year, or total?

Re: Michigan c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I found Michigan to be generally more generous than other schools. But I might be a strange case. I ended up getting money at Michigan last cycle ($15,000 a year - I had the same 3.5/171 that a couple other people who got $15,000 in this thread have). I didn't get money at UVA, NU, or Georgetown. In fact the only schools to match Michigan for a scholarship were Vanderbilt and William & Mary.AmandaPB wrote:Same here. Wish it was more but I have no idea how much money I’ll be able to get out of the T14. I guess I’m willing to attend some schools without anything so this is good!erv2107 wrote:$18,000/year here! Pleasantly surprised.
Your mileage may vary, but I've heard similar stories (I guess unsurprisingly) from a number of people who showed up at Michigan. Michigan gave them a sizeable scholarship and nobody else would.
I also know one student who got a scholarship from Texas matched by Michigan. Also, give it time if you got in and don't have an award listed yet. Dean Z is probably working through all of your applications and not posting all the money at once.

Interesting. Mine says "Dean's Scholarships are awarded without regard to financial need. You may, in addition, qualify for need-based financial aid, and you will likely be interested in applying for loans."46nyc wrote:mattbarnes123 wrote:Does UM ever give need aid in addition to merit aid?
The letter in the mail specifically stated that due to the size of the merit award, I would not be eligible for need-based grants, but I can get need-based loans. I don't know if that's true for all sizes of the merit awards or not.
Maybe it's based off of the financial section we submitted. As a UG I only had to take out an outside loan really my freshman year, because my financial situation qualified me for plenty of need based aid.

This may be a stupid question, but...what financial section? I just went back and looked at my transmitted LSAC app, and there's nowhere to list any financial details.foxylaxy wrote:Interesting. Thank God for TLS. I saw this thread, checked online ASW, saw $15,000, freaked out and ran to my mail box, and found my letter from Michigan. hahaha. $45,000 total. =D
I actually kind of find it funny that it has a stipulation of a 2.0 GPA. Michigan, I promise you that if I get under a 2.0, I will drop out.
And No13, I don't believe there was any financial information that we sent to Michigan.

Makes sense and that is what it says on my letter as well. I know of people who got both last year so I hope to be able to qualify for both.foxylaxy wrote:Interesting. Yes, call. I bet your app has already been processed and that you do have a status checker, the e-mail just never got mailed to you. Or perhaps it went in your junkhangqianli wrote:congrats on all the admits...

Anyone else having trouble getting access to ASW that has already been admitted? I keep entering my UMID and my DOB and the page just refreshes and the fields clear themselves?

Try using a different browser. Chrome failed me, so I started using firefox. When FF failed, I logged in with IE. I can also log in with Chrome via incognito window.Real Madrid wrote:Anyone else having trouble getting access to ASW that has already been admitted? I've been having that problem. I've tried firefox and IE, and neither work. I was having a different problem prior to this: I would try to log in and get strange red text about not having 'write permission.'UnamSanctam wrote:Try using a different browser. The schools support for Chrome is spotty. Sometimes it'll work fine, sometimes you'll get loop errors, sometimes it'll just fail silently. Rarely do I have a problem anymore. Sometimes opening an incognito window will fix it. Other times try IE, Safari, or firefox.

I keep getting sent back to the log-in page also (with no red text, just blank fields). I've tried Firefox, Chrome, and Safari, including clearing all UMich cookies. I'll just try again in a few days I guess.AntipodeanPhil wrote:I've been having that problem. I've tried firefox and IE, and neither work. There's something wrong with the ASW page. Here's the trick. After attempting to log in the first time, the page will reload and your entry will be blank. Then click on the "current student" link in the upper right corner. You will then be sent to the Admitted Student page.
I just checked my fin aid. 54k total merit scholarship.

Congrats on the dolla$, guys! Michigan is an amazing prospect at sticker, so those of you who are getting money should be rightfully excited.
For those of us who haven't yet heard the good word: anyone know why the admissions seem to have slowed down a bit this past week? I think I heard mention of Michigan focusing on their ED applicants for a few weeks, but I could be confusing that with any of the other 16 schools to which I'm applying

In the 'Money and Mailings' section, do it state whether they have mailed anything to you? If you have been admitted, there will be a mailing listed, with a date, and an "admit term" listed.crabcakes wrote:wait, is this a fluke? because i was able to log in and have not been admitted yet...........

LOL, congratulations! If it states they have mailed something, with a date, I'm guessing that can't be an error.crabcakes wrote:OMG YES! HOLY F!!!! Wait, wait, I used this "Trick" and I got the blue admitted students site for the first time ever. Is this a glitch? Would I be able to get into the website somehow using this roundabout way if I wasn't in?AntipodeanPhil wrote:The trick worked for me - thanks.RonnyDworkin wrote:There's something wrong with the ASW page.
