For anyone who was admitted last week: have you received scholarship info? I received my packet via snail mail today and I thought there would've been scholarship info included, but no such luck. Unfortunately, Denver isn't really an option for me without $$.

This. M you're like my soul sister. East coast, in but no money with a competitive LSAT. I hope I'll get the snail mail today when I get home and then I'll update. I'm planning on taking a visit and DU is locked in as my choice if I got some money, so I am hoping they can open up their hearts and wallets to this guy.

I'm emailing today to see if they can recommend an alternate earlier date besides 4/2 and will also ask about schollys. Here's to hoping for some good news.

I actually spoke with a woman in the financial aid office and she said that I had a very strong LSAT but my GPA was right below median... so that, combined with barely any $ left, = no $ for me. However, she did say she would make a note on my file that I called asking about my options. When money starts freeing up and they re-evaluate files, mine will be one of the first they look at because of that note. They'll probably tell you the same thing. After that conversation, I'm definitely keeping my hopes up for some money. I'm still going to visit regardless. Let's stay positive!!!

Useful. Well done. The financial aid office owes me a call back, so I'm sure I'll get the same answer with my stats. Everyone I've talked to so far has been great, though. Hey, what's more waiting anyway? DU is the only school so far that has even made a decision, so I love them for that.

I used to leave my house at 7:30AM get to Keystone for first chair up at 8:30 ski till lunch, have lunch and be back before 1:30PM same day.

Ok, so lets get down to brass tacks here...I am from a big city. I like the hustle and bustle and variety. I also like that in my big city I have a 10 minute commute and can walk to dinner or happy hour. I would like to be able to walk to campus, but is the university neighborhood worth the convenience? I really liked downtown Denver and certain parts reminded me of home. Is there a prevailing trend for 0Ls as far as housing? Any place better than others for access to abovementioned schuss-ing locations?

The area around school is like an older 50s era suburb. There are a few bars/resreuants around school but its nothing like a large schools campus strip or anything. Sound like your looking for amore of a city scene then try LoDo, Downtown, Uptown, Capital Hill or Highlands. Most of those are about a 20-30 min drive to school. If you live downtown u can take the train for free with you school pass and there is a stop about a 10 min walk across campus from the law school.

M, you're like a prophet...email just arrived. Looks like this DU thing is actually going to go down. I'm getting pretty pumped actually. Almost don't care what the other schools say now.

Question is, do I leverage in state equalization from higher ranked state schools to get the $22k? That's what I really want because then it will truly be a better $$ decision to go to Denver, rather than just what I want. Does this kind of thing even work for us "regular" statted applicants?

YES, go us! I was wondering about that, too. For now, I'm pretty happy with the 17k. If I receive other offers that make leveraging a possibility, than I might try.

How long after you got accepted did they offer you a scholarship? I'm still waiting for a scholarship offer, which leads me to assume it won't be all that big. Though it took Saint Louis months to settle down on 14k per year for me. That would be a nice offer coming from Denver.

Also got an email offering a scholly after the call - $22k per year. I'll keep it in my pocket, but I don't know if it's enough. It appears that 22k is about their max (outside of the Chancellors), and with tuition being 35k, that's still a lot of debt to rack up. I really love the public interest focus and the location though.

Just an FYI there is a bunch of scholarships that the school offers from donors for like years 2+/ Of course you are not guaranteed those, but there are TONS of them and I know a lot of folks who applied and got some money from them for the rest of the years. The fin aide page has a listing of them I think. Also, at for my class, people who did really good after 1st semester got some money too, I think one girl got like $7500 I don’t know if that’s normal or what, but it happened my first year.

Also I had several classmates who got jobs working for DU. I think they got like 6 credits FREE per semster if you worked at DU. Would not recoemnd it for 1L if your going FT, but if a PTer or for years 2+ its a really good deal.

LOL, yea we have seasons, unlike Phoenix where I was from. Has snowed the last 3 days in a row, which is NOT normal for Denver, usually snows one day then the next its like 50 degrees and everything metls.

Anyone else go "decision processed" on the 18th? I talk to the admissions office and they said they made a bunch of decisions, but because it is getting later in the cycle they won't be sending out e-mails. All letters will be sent out on Monday.

It has to do with the city. Denver has a relatively low COL, so the salaries are lower too. It's equivalent to making like 90-100 in NYC. Also, Denver doesn't have as many huge law firms as big cities like Chicago, San Fran and NYC.

For those of you attending ASD and staying in a hotel, are you staying at the Burnsley All Suite Hotel? DU has a block of rooms for us at $99 per night. I did find that the Hyatt has a special DU rate of $79 per night. Is anyone planning on staying in another hotel? The Burnsley has a shuttle going back and forth to DU, which is good for me since I'm flying in and won't have a car. I'm sure I can get a taxi from the Hyatt, though.

What airline are you looking at? I am also from the Southern CA area and am planning on flying to Denver in March to look at the school. I was thinking about flying out of John Wayne but I would consider driving to LA if it were cheap enough.

I'm flying out of LAX. Its either going to be frontier airlines or southwest. both offer near the same price for tickets. I should also note that i flying in on Thursday so the tickets are about $20 cheaper.
