Re: Wisconsin 2010 Application Cycle
I could use some insight about Wisconsin.....
background: Im a splitter, with an lsat above their 75th, and a gpa below their 25th. 4 years out of college. good WE
It seems wisconsin waitlists everyone, plus their mother. with that being said, i expect the wl as well (my application will be sent by the end of the week). is there any way to avoid it, or once on it to get off relatively quick? should i sent a 'why wisconsin' essay with my application even though it is not mentioned on their app?
if admitted, i will more than likely go, since the higher ranked schools i applied to are huge reaches. thanks for any tips/comments.

Re: Wisconsin 2010 Application Cycle
I'd call them and ask. Speak with the head of admissions. This went well for me at ND, when I called to ask them what I can do to make my application stand out from the other WLers, they gave me advice and said they'd carefully re-evaluate my app. It might not seem like much, but getting your name out there and doing what they want you to do can make a big difference.moandersen wrote:I could use some insight about Wisconsin.....

Re: Wisconsin 2010 Application Cycle
Went under review on 11/24 and found out this afternoon via e-mail. It hurt. I really wanted to go there.
I think I'm going to call them tomorrow to find out how I can go about getting off the WL. Incidentally, the assistant dean whose name appears in the e-mail has his phone number listed on their website. Would it be too presumptuous to just call him versus the admissions office?

I'd suggest speaking to Rebecca Scheller (not sure about the sp) vs. Dean Hall...well, unless you want to have the most awkward conversation...ever. The best way to get off the WL is to write a LOCI and visit the school.mchrop10 wrote:Went under review on 11/24 and found out this afternoon via e-mail. It hurt. I really wanted to go there.

Also, totally unrelated topic--I think I'm the one who's going to need some luck now! I just submitted a ton of forms required for residency. It's truly begun!

Thanks for the info. Have you spoken to her before about WL's?

Also, should I still address my LOCI to Dean Hall?

Just curious mchrop10 what are your stats? I'm sure you have a decent shot of getting off the WL

When I wrote mine last year, I addressed it to "Dean Hall and Members of the Admission Committee"mchrop10 wrote:Also, should I still address my LOCI to Dean Hall?

I just noticed at the top of my status checker page it says that my application is currently under review by the admissions committee. I hadn't noticed that before, hopefully it means good news will be on its way soon.

You should really be careful what you say. I'm pretty sure the Admissions Office reads this blog, including Mike Hall.

Re: Wisconsin 2010 Application Cycle
I'm getting anxious. I got my status checker email 12/3/09 but I was marked in review 11/24...should I have heard anything yet? I'm at their 75 for LSAT and in between median and 75 for GPA.
I just hate the waiting game I guess.

If someone rejects you for saying something like that on a thread, then they are seriously disturbed.lawschoollady wrote:coolkatz321 wrote:I'd suggest speaking to Rebecca Scheller (not sure about the sp) vs. Dean Hall...well, unless you want to have the most awkward conversation...ever. I've met Mike Hall... Also, he's not going to hold helpful advice against someone, especially if it helps streamline his own application process. That's ludicrous.

Are you saying that everyone receives an email with their decision - rejection, waitlist, accept?jayzon wrote:I believe all applicants are notified by a long email, followed shortly thereafter by a nearly-identical letter.samer wrote:In today?
