Spivey's post on /r/lawschooladmissions gives a bit of commentary. I'm really struggling to not get my hopes up here.

(Also...what is ACWL?)
I'd contact admissions and ask how they would prefer that to be handled.
ACWL = Applicant confirmed on waitlist
It's the status update you get after DLS if you agree to the waitlist.
Thanks! If anyone else had a similar question they said email it or send it snail mail (no mention of a limit on LORs either)

pero like, is this data bad for me as a reverse splitter or not necessarily? please be honest if you can, I can take it.haley12 wrote:+180Nightwing wrote:Spivey's the best. Can't wait to see this "domino" chain in action.jessmeesh wrote:SybillAnnDorsett wrote:Spivey's latest -

Re: NYU c/o 2020 -- WAIT LIST (Poll included!)
I would think that the data is bad for reverse splitters. Basically, it shows that high LSATs are in unusual demand (based on my cycle you'd never know that though) so they're going to be pulling predominately from the high LSAT pile. If reverses get lucky it will be as a result of focusing so much on high LSATs that they need to the boost their GPA as a correction against the splitters (they'll have to tap splitters).SybillAnnDorsett wrote:pero like, is this data bad for me as a reverse splitter or not necessarily? please be honest if you can, I can take it.haley12 wrote:+180Nightwing wrote:Spivey's the best. Re: NYU c/o 2020 -- WAIT LIST (Poll included!)
Here's how Spivey breaks it down (he says he will say more during the AMA)
"basically fewer LSAT scores at the top means more competition at the top (each applicant can only go to 1 law school this year, at most) which means more WL movement at the top. Each time a higher ranked schools admits someone off a WL, odds are that a slightly lower ranked school will lose that person and thus they will likely need to go to WL. And it cascades like that from the very top to the very bottom."

I think it's hard to predict the effects of LSAT score distributions without similar data on GPAs. I know LSAT scores tend to matter more, but I'm assuming schools still care somewhat about their GPA medians.

Yeah, in theory for every splitter they take, they need a reverse splitter to balance things out. I wouldn't assume anything at this point.

Re: NYU c/o 2020 -- WAIT LIST (Poll included!)
This is true. What will help reverse splitters is if high LSATs w/low GPAs start getting scooped to replace high LSAT/high GPAs. If that happens they'll have to tap reverse splitters to correctjazzybean wrote:I think it's hard to predict the effects of LSAT score distributions without similar data on GPAs. Nope, I'm intending to send mine today. Though I did submit the WL form twice - maybe that's why?
