Anyone know the odds of convincing Emory to bump me up to closer to a full tuition scholly? Lol

Yes, but only to a certain extent. Definitely research the shuttle routes before you decide where to live. Some shuttles go up North Decatur road, some go down Briarcliff and are within walking distance of some more popular apartment complexes. If you want, I can PM you some of the more popular places, but if you're looking to rent a house (the cheapest option) you'll have to keep checking as those can come and go quickly.brinicolec wrote:Emory's site mentions the free shuttle that goes through popular neighborhoods near campus... If you're using MARTA. Some of the Emory shuttles are actually pretty decent, just depends on which ones you take (the ones running from Clairmont campus to main campus, for example, come every few minutes and don't get snared in much traffic).pleasesendhelp wrote:Lived most of my life in atl. I'd suggest you live within walking/biking/Emory shuttle distance. Parking on campus is scarce and very expensive, but I'm sure some people do it.

Hi! I hope its not too late and you're still taking quetions; thanks for your helpwoodselle wrote:Emory 2L here! Happy to answer any questions you have while I procrastinate.

I noticed that Emory has a graded LRW (ILARC) class...a lot of people seem to boast whether their school has a graded or a P/F LRW class. Is the fact that Emory's class is graded that big of a deal?

Has Emory already sent out denials and/or waitlists?

No. Last year they didn't start sending out those waves until March 15._sendnudes wrote:Has Emory already sent out denials and/or waitlists?

Definitely not too late! Personally, I don't think it's a big deal. It's a 2 credit hour course each semester, which in reality does not affect your GPA very much. I've never heard anyone complain that it's graded at Emory, although people do complain that it's a lot of work for a 2 hour class. Those same people end up blowing it off second semester when they realize 2 credit hours isn't going to make or break your GPA. The vast majority of the class will end up with a B+/A-, with a few obviously getting above and below that.floatie wrote:Hi! Re: Emory Law c/o 2020 (2016-2017)
Are you, or do you know of any classmates who chose Emory over T-14s? Especially T-10s and up? Are they happy with that decision? I know this probably comes across a little shitty, but i finally got my FinAid, and it makes Emory way more desirable than I thought it would be. Not sure if this is debt aversion, or what...woodselle wrote:Emory 2L here! Happy to answer any questions you have while I procrastinate.
Anyway, thanks for any input.
ETA: what's the culture of the school? Is there much of a community?

Emory Law applicant and Emory undergrad alumnus here. I know a lot of Emory Law alumni and one in particular choose Emory over Georgetown. He loved Emory and never regretted his decision. He's now an associate at Troutman Sanders.S.Picquery wrote:Are you, or do you know of any classmates who chose Emory over T-14s? Especially T-10s and up? Are they happy with that decision? Edit: Missed your community question- the Emory community is great, everyone I know who went there really enjoyed the school, the city and their classmates. That being said, unless you're a difficult person, I think you'll make your peace almost wherever you go. (At least that's what I'm telling myself!)

PM'd you a longer answer, but in short: I chose Emory over several T-10s, in part because of my scholarship, and I have been very happy with my decision.S.Picquery wrote:Are you, or do you know of any classmates who chose Emory over T-14s? Missed the last part: the school is very community-driven. The student body is close, and your classmates and upperclassmen are very willing to help you. Definitely not cutthroat. The school is far more left-leaning that I (perhaps naively) had anticipated, but without a doubt very friendly.

Hi! Thanks for doing this. I may be in the same position of choosing Emory over a T14 because of the incredibly generous offer they gave me and the fact that I have very strong ties in Atlanta (lived here all my life). Mind copy and pasting that pm and sending it my waywoodselle wrote:PM'd you a longer answer, but in short: I chose Emory over several T-10s, in part because of my scholarship, and I have been very happy with my decision.S.Picquery wrote:Are you, or do you know of any classmates who chose Emory over T-14s? Did any of you guys write a "why Emory" addendum?
I was wondering if you have heard back from them ? I had my interview and they said they usually take a week to reveal the decision. Also have you applied for any scholarships?

Is there any email suggesting "application complete" from the school after submission? I submitted my like 1 month ago still hear nothing from them (well except for the holiday emails...)

Yes, I got an email confirming that my application was complete. I got it the day after I submitted my application.Tomthecat wrote:Is there any email suggesting "application complete" from the school after submission? Just got my acceptance letter today. Application was submitted in late January, so roughly 2 weeks of waiting. As you already know, there's no online status checker or anything like that. You'll know if you're accepted as soon as you get the packet - it says something like "Congrats! Welcome to Emory!" on the front.
My scholarship offer was exactly what LSN suggests.
