Re: UVA c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Just admitted via status checker! I am THRILLED!
Interviewed yesterday and thought it went well. GPA above 75th, LSAT between 25 and 50th. Good work experience.

I was admitted last week, received a very large merit scholarship via postal mail today (not Dillard)! Good luck to everyone with UVA and the rest of the cycle!

When do Dillards start happening during a cycle?

Cool to hear that scholarship offers are already coming out. Wasn't expecting to hear about that until next year!

For those of you who have already received your official admissions packet in the mail, did your status tracker update with the fact that it had been sent under the mailings section?

Interviewed earlier today. Went okay I think. Questions were pretty standard with a lot of sell uva. 20 mins. Feverish refreshing of the status checker begins now

Did you have an interview or was it just a WL? Email or status checker?proteinshake wrote:sorry to hear that. mind sharing your stats? (via PM if you don't wanna share em here)m052310 wrote:Waitlisted. Not unexpected. Good luck to the rest of you.

2.9/168 (Like I said, not unexpected, had some interesting softs, took a moonshot). No interview, email (haven't actually looked at status checker yet).poptart123 wrote:Did you have an interview or was it just a WL? are you URM? Definitely would have expected a ding with that GPA, so a WL seems like a win.m052310 wrote:(Like I said, not unexpected, had some interesting softs, took a moonshot). Thank you, and I'm sorry to hear about your WL. I guess I will give up status checker and watch my email for the probable WL/Deny as well.m052310 wrote:2.9/168 (Like I said, not unexpected, had some interesting softs, took a moonshot). What do you guys like about UVA? It's probably the T-14 school I know least about so I'd like to hear what gets people excited about it.

Great reviews from former / current students -- people really seem to enjoy being there, which seems to be somewhat unique among the top law schools. They also have great employment numbers, an interesting history, and are just a few hours from DC, where I'd ultimately like to practice. It also helps that they're likely one of the best schools I'll be able to get into as a splitter.LikelyThrowaway wrote:What do you guys like about UVA? Just got admissions packet in the mail. Was an early admit on status-checker. No scholly info in mail package. Guess I have something to look forward to in 2017!

Nah, white dude with a lot of years in the military, a ball buster undergrad, and a 4.0 in a master's program. My goal was to make it tough for them to say no and hope for the best. Guess I did. To whoever asked, the status tracker says wait list now. Couldn't tell you if the email came first or that did, but both were today.proteinshake wrote:are you URM? Appreciate the info. Did they update your status checker with the fact that they had sent you the admissions packet before you received it?j0elanz wrote:Just got admissions packet in the mail. Received my admissions packet in the mail today too, nothing updated on the status checker. The only thing listed for me under "Mailings" is the email they sent when I went complete.PDX4343 wrote:Appreciate the info. Great. I was wondering if they were just lagging on sending mine out.
