Seems to be the consensus. Wonder if BOTH are necessary, or if a Why NDLS is good enough. I didn't do a DKL essay, but I had a Why essay. Guess we'll find out soon enough.Longsx3 wrote:
I don't usually post because my Daughter is the OL. However this may help those still applying. As others have said write the optional essay...My D did not initially write one because she had expressed interest via visiting in the late summer and assumed that to be enough. In late November she received an email from admissions asking her to reconsider her choice not to write the essay, so she wrote one. She was admitted in the first wave.
It seems like NDLS needs to make the essay part of the application, not optional.

I wonder if they use these as a way to vet out who really is interested in going to NDLS v. those who are just applying because they got the fee waiver. I would think that the Why NDLS essay is the only "mandatory" essay, as the DKL essay seems to be a disguised diversity statement (as countless others have mentioned).Billy Madison wrote:Seems to be the consensus. I'm hoping you're right. I know they love their DLK mantra, but any diversity I can talk about in a DS is readily apparent in my PS and elsewhere in my app.woodchuck78 wrote:

Decision made today. Status checker actually did display seat deposits. Hopefully that's good news!

Same here! We are we pretty sure that having the seat deposit info is a sign of acceptance, right?travisford wrote:Decision made today. Status checker actually did display seat deposits. Hopefully that's good news!

Did you already write both additional essays? If not, than submitting those would be important i'd say. Also, i've been told that a few weeks after the decision its a good idea to write a letter of continued interest to the office of admissions so they have something to update your file and refresh their memory.lawlawlaw22 wrote:WaitlistedWhat are the correct steps to trying to get off of the waitlist?
For your status tracker, did it have anything about seat deposits under fees for a wait list status?

No nothing with fees. I am working on the optional essays, but I guess I have to just email them to admissions at this point because you can't submit them anymore through LSAC. I suppose waiting a couple of weeks and attaching them in a continued interest email would be the way to go.lmf09 wrote:Did you already write both additional essays? I do appreciate the quick decision though. I have been under review at a couple of schools since late September!

Admitted today! Was waitlisted at Georgetown, so as a practicing Catholic was excited to get into one of the big Catholic law schools. 3.0 GPA and 166 LSAT.

My status was 'Decision Made' earlier today (had the fees listed for seat deposit) and then just got an email to say congratulations and that they are sending the packet in the mail! Good luck to everyone. Off to drink champagne.

Re: Notre Dame c/o 2019 Applicants
Can someone help me with a Why Notre Dame Essay? It really is one of my top choices to attend, but I feel any sort of way that I would express it in writing would just sound vague/applicable to any law school
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
