Re: University of Texas c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
The one point from at 75th to above 75th is very important. After that, in my opinion, each point is increasingly less important. (Although 180s might have their own value because schools could brag about that)
The first point over is important because if they get 25% of their admits at that number (or higher) their 75th score rises. Though, it is probably not nearly as important as the point from median to median+1.
But, in any event. [Getting us back on topic]
Texas does its own thing. It's its own country down there, right?

That's a good point.WatchClosely wrote:I've heard it said that once you are above a school's 75th, the extent to which you are above their 75th doesn't matter too much. Texas cares about its rankings, and a 180 will raise the UT median LSAT rankings by just as much as a 172 raises the UT median LSAT rankings. Being above the 75th is king; once you've broken that threshold, I believe that you receive diminishing marginal returns for each additional LSAT point.HawkeyeVodka34 wrote:How much of a difference do you think being a few points above 75th makes? Enough to offset being <25% gpa wise?

Submitted Sept. 20th. I'm in-state if that makes a difference.WatchClosely wrote:Congrats. When did you submit?
I'd like to think so, but honestly I just picked the username because Kant's book just happened to be on my desk from a class I was taking and it seemed like something that wouldn't be taken.sollos wrote:Congrats! Are you a fellow philosopher?

Hi there! Has anyone that has been accepted missed the phone call? I missed a call from an Austin number, but they didn't leave a voicemail...

If you guys are looking for something to read on going to law school, I highly recommend Don't Go to Law School (Unless) by Paul Campos. He is a professor of law at Colorado, and in his opinion, about 90% of people going to law school right now would be better off if they had never applied. He didn't change my mind about going into law, but he has radically altered my expectations and has greatly impacted my thoughts about where I am going to attend.

Re: University of Texas c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
Just an FYI, it's possible that the admissions people will not leave a voicemail when they call. I missed a call on December 18 from an Austin number (but I'm from TX so I didn't think much of it) and I went to check my email and my UT status check and there was no news there so I forgot about it. Then today I got an email about joining the UT Law facebook page and was confused about whether or not this meant that I had been accepted, went to my status checker, and saw that it said admission was offered on December 18. Soooo, yeah. Weirdest acceptance I have ever gotten.

Does your voicemail have your name on it? If something's sensitive, I won't leave it on a VM that's just the phone number.

That could definitely be it, but I still find it interesting that they didn't send an acceptance emailBVest wrote:Does your voicemail have your name on it? If something's sensitive, I won't leave it on a VM that's just the phone number.
